I definitely recommend booking a table especially on weekends, it definitely helps. Despite how busy it was, our food arrived fairly quick. Food is always to a great standard. And the staff are always nice and welcoming.

This is a wonderful pub serving the best curries. We didn't have the famous mixed grill last night but the sight and smells of it are enough to tempt me back. Our food was excellent, particularly Chicken Bhuna and Lamb Saag. Beer choice is great and the service is friendly and efficient. Very busy pub, so book ahead.

Excellent naan bread and curry was spot on. All the staff were great to us and the pub itself feels like you would always be welcome.

Lovely Indian food, carefully cooked. This was my third visit here. The grilled meats are delicious, and the curries are very tasty too. The saag paneer today was outstanding. The fish pakora and fish curry are also very good. Delicious cocktails today. There is a good range of gin and wine too, as well as a selection of beer and cider. The service was very attentive too. This is a lovely old pub that has been beautifully restored. It is cosy and welcoming, with great food and drink.

The food was good but it’s a shame the overall experience was let down by the poor service and extremely rude staff who turned out to be the owners!

One of the friendliest pubs we have ever been in. Fantastic food, Full of local people, which says it all really. The staff were so helpful and pleasant.

Lovely freshly prepared food, the portions at the Hen & Chickens are always very substantial. The room at the back is probably the best place in the pub to eat, it's away from the very busy bar area and has a very cosy feel to it.

Excellent food especially the large mixed grill. Great selection of real ales served by lovely staff, very welcoming. It's a great venue that's highly recommended, many thanks

Food good .... atmosphere good.... reasonably priced menu. Very busy for a Wednesday evening.... a very odd ‘no hat’ policy? However worth a visit. .

Nice staff and food was generally good. One of my samosas was still partly frozen in the middle when I bit into it which meant they were probably not hand madd which was disappointing. Best to eat in lounge at back as gets too noisy with 3 tv screens in bar. Price was more than if we’d gone to Ladypool Road but we will definitely come back.

Really good food. Great Grilled Meats, lovely curries , fab breads and regularly great new dishes. Its NOT Michelin but décor appropriate for locale. Strongly recommended.,

Amazing food but alcohol expensive so be careful a large glass of Pinot Grigio £6.50 ! but amazing food will be back! Defo recommend king Prawn curry was incredible

Great food and had a couple of real ales on tap too. A little pricey but I think that paid off with the quality of the food. I would definitely be going back.

The range of food was excellent, delicious and quickly prepared. It would have been useful to know that the main dishes were also available as vegetarian options as this could have put us off from dining here. We were placed on a table in the main bar, which was a lot noisier than the other rooms which seemed to have a nicer atmosphere, so that was the only downside. The food itself was absolutely delicious, obviously freshly prepared and the service and prices were really excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again!

Pleasant experience overall, excellent food, costs are reasonable for dining aspects but soft drink pricing is a little OTT. Atmosphere is lively and pleasant however staff could be a little more cheerful.

Good curry, good beer,friendly staff, nice pub. Has sky sports if that's your thing but I think most people are there for the fabulous food.

Really good food and decent pub. Great idea and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Birmingham. Also has Sky/BT sport for all the sporting action.

Service brilliant, good advice on food as my partner is not keen on anything 'too hot'. All the staff are pleasant & the pub decor is in keeping with an old city pub.

Very busy and rather noisy, but a great atmosphere. Food was excellent with large portions at a good price. If you love Indian food and a pub atmosphere you must visit. However definately not the place to go to if you want a quiet romantic evening!

The food is sill fantastic and I’ll be visiting regularly. However I handed in a printed food order earlier that day as it was an organised work team evening meal. However two dishes were missed off the list which means some of my colleagues had to wait until it was reordered. I was just a shame because I couldn’t have made it more efficient to ensure all of our food would come at the same time. That being said the food is delicious and venue very cosy.

Food was utterly delicious, especially fish pakora. Efficient friendly service. Great venue. Accommodated large party with ease, hot and tasty food out at same time for 15 people.

We visited Hen & Chickens on a Wednesday evening and it had a lovely atmosphere and we had a brilliant meal. Would recommend to all and will visit again.

Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Lamb chops and cod tikka to die for. Only complaint the Tables for 2 in the middle of the room don’t work as seats too low and your two close to the next table so no privacy.

Good selection of drinks for all. Pub clean. Food served hot and extremely tasty would fully reccomend to others. We enjoyed our starters and curries. Looking forward to our next visit.

I love their food, it never disappoints me. Fresh, well seasoned and well cooked. Perfect Friday treat!!
