Fantastic Sunday lunch - recommend the Butchers Sunday Lunch. Beautiful and generous portions. Two huge Yorkshire Puddings, fantastic tender beef, amazing roasts and lovely sides. Recommend the cauliflower cheese.

Disappointed. Came here to celebrate my son’s birthday on the evening all excited. Left feeling dissatisfied and disheartened. The young blonde waitress was inpatient, abrupt, unhelpful and there were no smiles. Made me us feel quite unwelcome. I asked what largers they had on draft and with a stone face she mentioned one and another one she didn’t know the name of and then paused and just loooed at me.. I said ok I will try that then not knowing what it was etc. Second we had to wait over half an hour for our food. Myself and my partner ordered a sharing platter which was £20 each, not including the chips which you had to pay separate. The ‘sharing platter’ 5 small chunks of meat on it and 2 mushrooms. That was it. I ate it in about 5 minutes and was still hungry afterwards. It was a con really as there wasn’t enough to share on it. Was only enough for 1 person, so just some meat and mushroom. I feel like I just filled up on the extra chips I had to pay for. Then there was my son’s steak burger which was unappetising. He is 14 and as the menu was extremely limited, he chose the burger. He didn’t like any condiments on the burger so had it plane, but the steak was very over cooked and looked like burnt mince. To be honest the meat was nice, but the pricing needs sorting out. Overall, we won’t be returning as the menu online is misleading with the different days and what’s available etc. Waitress was given no tip.

Food was extremely good. The service is normally very good, but one of our party of 6 had their meal forgotten which was disappointing that we couldn’t all eat at the same time. I had this happen in another restaurant in the past and the customer service was better then, as they offered a drink for the person who was waiting.

Took some friends today for our second visit - and they loved it! I'm the only one who doesn't eat a lot of meat so my only criticism is that I would like another non -steak option (having already tried the delicious mushroom gnocchi). Service was wonderful and definitely go again another time.

Have been lots of times and always great steaks. Booked this time as they had a Steak & Tenners offer on. Great marketing as obviously you had to pay over the top for any extras (veg, sauce, mushrooms etc) but just felt a bit ripped off this time. £5 for a small jug of sauce seemed a bit steep and the different size of dishes for veg meant you paid £5 for a ramekin size pot of cauli cheese or a dish that held double the amount! Having known people who had gone earlier in the day and had their fillet steak served with a flat mushroom & salad along with the fries, when ours arrived with just the steak & fries on a plate it looked very empty! Shame to take advantage in this way!

Food is perfect as always! Very good quality, we have been coming here for years and the last 2/3 times we have been we thought the front of house service was really lacking. Shame really.

We were greeted at the door by a friend guy and then we were taken to our seat, all okay so far. A woman came to take our order but I noticed she didn’t write any of the order down, but I didn’t think much of it. When the steak came it was incorrect, my partner orders medium well and I order medium. Hers came out bright pink which she doesn’t like and mine came out well done. She also forgot the side order which I had to go over to the bar and ask for. I swapped steaks with my partner as I am not normally one to moan and it was an easy mistake. The kind guy sorted the side order out and said it would be free of charge which again sorted that problem. We then finished our meal and I stacked the plates, no one bothered to come get them for 15/20 mins, even though a young woman walked past multiple times, I ended up going to the bar and paying the bill and left. We wanted to see the desert menu and I wanted another drink, but we both decided to forget it and ended up going somewhere on our way home. Overall very average experience, the guy was the only helpful member of staff we had.

Excellent food and service given how busy it was. One minor mistake with the order but they sorted it very quickly and we were more than happy. Would definitely recommend and return.

We visited on a Thursday night and would thoroughly recommend - everything from the service to the food was absolutely first class. We had the chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection and very good value.

Steak was fantastic, perfectly cooked and excellent value. Nice restaurant. We ate fairly early so very nice calm atmosphere for the first hour then as it got busier the noise level increased considerably. Definitely worth a visit but avoid peak times if you want a more serene atmosphere.

The most tasty roast beef ever we will be back

We sat in the back room and the noise levels were so bad that we couldn't hear each other across our table! I think that they need some soft furnishings in there, otherwise, I will only book for the front room from now on. Disappointingly, the food quality has dropped too (been loads of time before & usually outstanding), i.e. no salad now, less chips served, but most of all the steaks were not cooked as requested. All 4 of my party chose med-rare and some were over done and my friend's was blue at best. Might be a while before we go back again and it's now dropped off our recommended list tbh.

Great waiter, superb Dexter steak and fries, sadly the veggies at £6 were sat in 1 cm water and the beans were cooked from frozen as they were soft and lifeless, without flavour and the soaking in water didn’t help which was disappointing as the meal itself and staff was fab. Would love better veg to elevate my experience to a Fantastic !
