Really nice bar/restaurant. Great choice of beers, pies very nice and very filling. The service we received was fantastic too.

Waited for someone to take our order but after 20 minutes or so had to order at the bar

Pie and Ale was absolutely packed due to the football being on, but we were taken to our table upstairs with no problem and were shown to a private booth for the 6 of us with a TV screen on the wall right opposite which was perfect as we were able to catch up and watch the match simultaneously without having to shout like we would've if we were sat downstairs where it was much louder. Our drinks orders were taken very quickly and we were informed that there was a 45 minute wait on food due to the kitchen being overwhelmed with orders. We were OK with this, and took the opportunity to enjoy our drinks, our company, the match, and play some of the board games on offer. The staff were very good and popped by the table every now and then to check we were good for drinks as well. When our pies arrived (close to an hour after ordering), they were piping hot, generously filled, very tasty and accompanied with lashings of gravy. Absolutely hit the spot and we were all rubbing full bellies afterwards. They have great vegan pie options (yes plural!), traditional pie fillings with exciting twists, and for the more adventurous, Pie and Ale have you covered too (they had a pie filled with alpaca meat on their specials menu!) Highly recommended if you ever need a good pie fix - you will not be disappointed!

Was a group of 13 & had a reserved table in what seemed like a private area. Good food, good atmosphere, good service & good food. Was our second visit but I'm sure we will be back in the future. Thank you.

Pie and Ale have excellent friendly staff and a good selection of reasonably priced beers and some Top Pies, an excellent venue for our monthly social get together as it has a variety of seating options for a more intimate gathering

Good food, although the service dipped a little after finishing our main, probably due to the Christmas party in the other room. Good value with the Monday deal though.

The Sunday roast pie was definitely not a 'pie', just a piece of pastry with the bits stacked on top. I had the vegan version and while everything tastes fine the 'vegan Yorkshire pudding' as advertised was definitely not a Yorkshire, it was a flat, deep fried crispy pancake. Was just a shame when I was looking forward to a Yorkshire! Overall fine, just a bit disappointing.

To be served drinks at the table while dining would make for a more relaxed experience. Food and atmosphere was great though.

Food is excellent, and the service is too. Were advised of the wait time for food as the pies are made fresh to order, and were offered a free drink (without asking) when the wait time was slightly exceeded (board and card games are available to help pass the time if needed). The pies were large, very tasty and came qith a superb gravy. I also had the apple pie (with custard) which was also excellent. Nice selection of ales available. Was very impressed, would definately recommend, and will be returning myself soon.

Good experience last Sunday. Food was ok,but the lady looking after us,(don't know her name but she was wearing a red Xmas jumper),was very friendly,helpful and professional.
