Fantastic food in a casual environment. Would definitely recommend eating here. The fillet steak was out of this world and I’ve never had such good scallops.

Best food we've had in ages. Will definitely be back. Staff very warm and friendly. I had the blade of beef, and it was melt in the mouth.

The food is generally good and the service is fine but the set menu hasn't been changed for a long time. It's time to give it a bit of a refresh now as going somewhere you can recite it by heart is beginning to feel a bit lazy....

Lovely relaxed restaurant with delicious food. Reasonable price especially per theatre and nice friendly staff. Worth a visit but book as it can get busy

Booking was easy through the website, no need to call to confirm. Received confirmation email quickly and all was fine on arrival. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, much larger than it looks from outside. We chose from the set menus, one vegan (haggis bon bons, and veg korma) and one meat eater (chicken salad, and rib eye steak) The starters and mains were excellent, especially the vegan menu, full of flavours and beautifully presented. We are really not fussy eaters but were disappointed with both the desserts chosen (banana fritters, and raspberries in white chocolate sauce), the sauces on both were a big let down, definitely would not choose them again, should have gone for a normal cake instead. This didn't ruin the night though, we would certainly eat there again and would recommend it. The staff were also very attentive, polite and helpful while being discreet and professional.

Food was fantastic but restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere. Couldn't fault the menu or the food. Very reasonably priced. Something for everyone on the menu.

The food at a very busy service was superb, the only reason for marking them down from top marks was I think the service could be improved

Delicious food and great value for money but portion size was slightly on the small side, always want to leave full after a meal and it took 3 courses to be fully satisfied. Other than that absolutely delicious and would return as long as I wasn't super hungry

Food good but one main course served late by which time others had nearly finished theirs. Overcharged on bill, only by £2. Despite this would still go back.

Hadn’t visited the Red Onion in some time and had picked it to meet with friends from out of town. Very pleased with our decision. We all enjoyed our choices from the varied menu. The vegan options were very good. Very reasonable prices. Would happily eat here again.

We had an excellent meal on a very busy evening for the restaurant. Staff were helpful and friendly despite the crowds, and service was prompt. However, one drink we ordered did not arrive till much later, and we got this on the house. The meals were creative and enjoyable, and a separate vegan menu was provided for one of us without asking, after we mentioned this in online booking. Highly recommended!

I had lunch with friends. The food was of a high quality. The menu offered good variety and reasonable price. I'll be back and I recommend this restaurant to adults. Not sure how they cater for children. Plenty of seating at ground level but if you have mobility issues beware as the toilets are at basement level accessible by stairs only.

Lovely quaint little restaurant, friendly service and good food - calamari and french onion soup starters were good, duck main was excellent, monkfish main very good just way too small - not the cheapest but good value for money.

Steak on set menu, very thin and fatty. Poor choice for kids and vegan dishes lacked seasoning. However, apetisers were nice and good portion size.

Dealing with a food intolerance (no onion) meant removing elements from a dish but no replacement. So a sauce was taken out but the chef couldn't whip up an onion free alternative. Main courses were very salty. Description of dishes om.memu didn't quite reflect what appeared Nice place though. Good atmosphere and good service.
