cutest place with an epic little selection of exquisite dishes...all seasonal (name doesn't let you down) and dainty! granary bread to die for. if not for the baby monkfish and pork, just go for the quirky collection of vintage pictures and cutlery. absolutely loved it.

Fantastic! Great menu and service. Love this local restaurant and it's warm and welcoming feel. Helpful ideas on wine to choose and a wide selection of reasonably priced options.

Steak was cooked perfectly to order. Greens were delicious and perfectly cooked. Wine was delicious. However some of the food was over-seasoned (too salty) - the 'crinkle cut chips' were neither crinkle cut nor chips but deep fried potato chunks and very salty...there was even salt sprinkled ontop of the rosemary chocolate pot dessert - after the previous salt onslaught the chocolate pot was not sweet enough or chocolaty enough to warrant this. Portion sizes were variable - chocolate pot very small, poached pears were fine. We were also it appears charged for the tap water which is a restaurant first for me. Albiet only £3, but it was an unfortunate and rather miserly charge which instead of mentioning we just reduced the service charge we normally give. It doesn't exactly leave you with a warm glow.

Great food and atmosphere. Best steak we have eaten for a while. Well worth going before 7pm to save £4 for the plate of chips!

Every time we have been the food has been amazing, the staff wonderfully friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere just the right balance between buzzing yet allowing conversation. The frequent changes to the menu mean there is always something exciting on offer, especially in terms of vegetarian options which is all too rare. I would especially recommend the house red - a Tempranillo that I've found always goes wonderfully with whatever I've ordered!

Amazing food. Roasts are spot-on, beat the heck out of most pub roasts. Custard filled doughnuts with strawberry preserve are stunning and the wine just tops it all off.

Went for Sunday lunch which was delicious. Much better than any I have had in a pub and for the same if not better price.

A cosy, intimate atmosphere with a brilliant host/owner. The chef took the time to come and chat to us about the gluten free options for my girlfriend who is coeliac, which shows how much not only the owner but the kitchen care about serving their guests to the highest standards. The owner was incredibly knowledgeable on the wine list, and his recommendation was great. The food also turned out to be incredibly tasty. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates brilliant food and mid-upper level prices (this place is worth it).

Great local restaurant - we're regulars here. Short but innovative menu; style is modern British using many local ingredients (even lical cheese!). Friendly service and lively atmosphere.

the food as always was excellent. we were glad we had booked as there was a large Italian family celebrating a combi -birthday / wedding anniversary. I would have given a 6 but for the waiter who made an unfortunate mistake.

Fine wine at really low prices accompanied by straightforward and reasonably priced food. The cooking here is simple whilst being well executed and the restaurant has a cute relaxing ambience about it. Its not pretentious and not a big deal either, which is exactly what I want most of the time. Wine list 6/6.

The meal was superb. The menu had some very unusual options as well as the true and tried. When the food came it all tasted delicious. The service was very good. For a "special" meal, the price was good.

Our mains courses were excellent, but a bit let down by a tasteless cooked peach desert. Service excellent and quick so good for pre and post theatre.

Third visit here, service initially good as usual. Starter of sardines nice. Main course of flat iron steak bit chewy, had to leave some. Mentioned to waiter who said he would tell chef. Nothing came back and bill arrived as normal. Mentioned issue to another waitress and she arranged steak to be taken off bill. Pleasant surprise but felt had to push issue.

I think the owners or at least the menu must have changed since we last went; there's far less choice for vegetarians than there used to be; what I could eat was very well prepared and presented however. The almond gazpacho was delicious, for example.

Lovely local restaurant with delicious food, good wine and excellent service - my favourite in Finsbury Park. If the rosemary chocolate pot is on the dessert menu, make sure you leave room for it :)

Visited for a pre-theatre meal and took advantage of their early special deal on steak (or mussels) and chips. Starters were particularly tasty (a burrata with mint and a white gazpacho). Interesting choice of wine by the glass too.
