Sokrates Taverna - Horwich

We had been to this restaurant before. We had an excellent time, the restaurant had a great atmosphere and the food was excellent. The prices were reasonable also. Will come again.

A fantastic experience! Food very tasty and great value. Made to feel very welcome. And it was great to not feel rushed. I can highly recommend the Mezze feast!

We got there a little early but wasn't a problem, lady who served us was lovely the food was fabulous and value for money would definitely be coming back!

The 4 of us had a lovely traditional Greek meal with wine. More food than we could eat - might have ordered too much! The bill came to £80 which was amazing value. Our friends go to Greece twice a year and thought it was more authentic than some of the islands! On a Tuesday night the restaurant was nearly full so recommend you book. Will definitely be going again, Iain

We all had the mere, each part of which arrived piping hot and perfectly spaced. It was absolutely delicious. The ambience was relaxed and informal, making for an excellent dining experience.

Over all the meal was good service was very good, the only thing our meal was booked for six and the doors didn't open till 6.05. There was a lot of people standing waiting outside.

Excellent food, and lots of it! We shared a meze, so had a little of lots of different dishes, every one was delicious. Attentive service too with recommendations of combinations to try. A lovely evening.

Very happy with this restaurant, staff were very nice and as we had not been there before recommended what food would be best and when our food arrived advised what would go best with it. Great value for money and lovely service will defiantly be returning. :)

Try the meze it is outstanding, service was great, swift and every dish was explained with tips on which dips went with each dish, we will be back!

After reading all he reviews it was disappointing.We had just spent two weeks in Kos,so payng £15.00 for two lamb chops,plus a few bits was VERY expensive.The house wine at £15.50/bottle was poor,but to be fair it was also poor in Kos.Greek wine not the best in the world! Staff good but a bit too busy to attend to a full restaurant.

Went to Sokrates for the first time about 3 weeks ago and came back as soon as I could. The food is Amazing!! Made me want to go to Greece on holiday! Lovely service too.

I went midweek with my girlfriend, the staff were lovely and helpful, and the food was healthy, delicious and well priced! Can't go wrong, will definitely come again.

1st visit, had meze, good food, full, lost count of the number of dishes we had, they did a veggie meze snd a meat/fish based one - well done!

Lovely meal we had visitors from Newcastle who were very impressed with the meal and the service excellent ! We had the mezze which was delicious and plenty of it every course was talked through by the waitress who was extremely helpful would definitely visit again

very friendly staff. The food was very good as was. The wine. The resturant was easy to find ,plenty of near by parking plus on main bus route.

Food and atmosphere was great. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the Meze set menu however it was very rushed and we were out of the restaurant within 70 mins of arriving!! Slow service after we'd finished meze, we asked for dessert menu twice and then they took so long to take our order we changed our minds!! Despite this would still recommend it.

From booking online the customer service was excellent. Arrived at the restaurant was seated straight away. The food was fantastic and not overly priced , all in all a excellent night.

Food was excellent but the fixtures and fittings require some updating. The decor requires a coat of paint and. Staff were very pleasant and helpfull.

Excellent food, we all chose from the main menu and it was delicious. Next time will try the mezze. Service was excellent and the atmosphere the same. Be back very soon.

Staff were extremely friendly and the food was truly amazing. Tried things I would never normally pick and enjoyed the night so much! It's a must try!

Absolutely top class, authentic and delicious food which was very reasonable in price. The service was lovely, friendly and very informative without being too intrusive. It was my first time to Sokrates but I will definitely be visiting again soon.

The food is really tasty with depth of flavour. The actual restaurant is old fashioned and authentic making you feel like you are in a Greek taverna. All the staff are knowledgeable about what they are serving you, helpful and pleasant

We decided last minute to take a trip up to Sokrates in Horrich, as normal the food and the service was fantastic as normal, we use this restaurant regularly and never have any issues,

I love this place! Great food every time! Love taking friends and family here for the 1st time. Meze all the way! Only thing I'd suggest is adding a small piece of baklava at the end of the meze cause I love it!

Wonderful meal. We had the mezze for two which was all delicious. It was a nice touch that the waiter explained which dip went best with each dish. Nice to try different flavours. We will definitely return and would highly recommend to others.
