Amazing food, drink and service!! Cannot complain at all. They were fast, polite and the pizzas were gorgeous! We stayed for drinks after which was nice too. But the best part was the staff :)

Good was of a good standard and service friendly but drinks orders were forgotten and our first course took almost an hour to arrive.

Pretty quiet for a Sunday so served at the bar immediately. Had a table reservation for lunch - great food and service as always. Would recommend booking a table here though as does get pretty busy.

I wanted to book an area for about 14 people for my daughter's 30 th birthday and to have bubbly and cake when everyone had arrived. I found the booking process easy and the staff extremely helpful when I did this. When we arrived at the Avalon the tables had been reserved and were in a good place near the windows. Staff so helpful did everything I had asked . Food also was delicious and everyone enjoyed. For me the 1 drawback was that the FA cup semi finals were being televised so I found it rather noisy but I am sure the youngsters didn't! Really pleased with the whole afternoon/evening. Many thanks to the Avalon staff and Frankie who helped make it so enjoyable.

Delicious food cannot wait to come back already! Had the fish and chips and they were absolutely perfect! Make sure you ask for more tartare sauce though!

Amazing Sunday lunch at a reasonable price. Highly recommend the roast beef! Most importantly, all Sunday lunches include a huge Yorkshire pudding! Good wine list. Attentive service. We will be back soon!

Something obviously went wrong in the kitchen tonight, guessing maybe a chef walked out? Food took well over an hour to come. However they took our bottle of wine off the bill as an apology which was nice, and the food was ok, had squid and duck, both a bit dry. Service was attentive and apologetic though.

Lovely food and great service, a few items not available which was slightly disappointing. Lovely choice of cocktails which were definitely not disappointing!

Overall we had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Avalon. However, our waitress did not seem to understand our questions - when we asked if the gravy on the vegetarian roast was vegetarian she said yes and then said it had beef in. We therefore ordered without the gravy but this dish was fairly dry as a result - it would be much better if vegetarian gravy was provided on a vegetarian option.

Came for a Sunday roast and although good was found lacking in some key areas. Veg was amazing, meat was good but sadly the roast potatoes were too waxy giving poor texture. Puddings took a long time and service was a bit slow. Overall ok but given the competition nearby, way behind.

The staff are wonderfully friendly but the food was horrible. I had a hanger steak and was advised to have it medium to rare otherwise the meat was tough. I had it rare and it came out blue and it had gristle in it. It was horrible. Then the guy wouldn't change it cause he said I had eaten over half of it!!! Offered me a free dessert (standard) but I said no and he ended up taking it off the bill. Dinner ended up being salad and fries! This is the second time out of three over the last 6 weeks where the food has been really bad. All I would say about my other experience is avoid the lasagne at all costs!

Went here on a Friday night. I've eaten at the Avalon a couple of times before & its generally good. Tonight though the service was quite slow. Had to call the waiter over to take our order. He did have good knowledge of the menu though. Also, there was a table of around 10 young guys who seemed to be doing shots & were extremely noisy to the point my friend and I couldn't hear ourselves speaking. Had it been my restaurant, I would have asked them to pipe down. In terms of the food, couldn't fault it. Very good for the price. House white is pretty decent too.

Food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly, would highly recommend although not on a night of the final matches of the six nations rugby if you want a quiet time.

Delicious meal and great service. Restaurant was a little loud for my parents, but it was Saturday night and I know they loved the food and ambiance. Thanks!

Food quality was poor. Would've been unhappy to pay full without tastecard discount. Everything seems to be sent from the kitchen rushed, execution of the dishes is below par.

Food great, service off the boil and inattentive. Needs better link through bar to restaurant, initial seating great then more of an emphasis on turning tables than service occupied ones

Tried to book by phone a number of times the previous day but no answer. Booked on line which was fine but that did not tell us it was a quiz night on Monday evenings. Food good and service friendly.

The restaurant was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. The roast was delicious (the gravy the highlight) but it was a little tight on the potatoes and vegetables. Lovely all the same

We're fans of the Avalon and dine here quite often, but we're a little dispointed with the food today. The chips and chicken burger both tasted like the oil they fried in was a little old and perhaps needed changing. That said service was great and attentive as always and this won't put us off returning.

Tried out the new bottomless brunch on this visit with a few friends. Chicken pesto burger was amazing and the bubbles were definitely free flowing. Worth a visit

Really great portions with the roast. I had the beef that was really tender and still pink - great!
