Had a lovely meal with my daughter. The food was good and service very quick and friendly staff.

Always come here when in Plymouth and 3rd time celebrating birthdays here. Fantastic place.

Steak was very tough,ordered a bottle of wine and it wasn't poured or offered to taste. Very noisy upstairs with bashing dishes around. Have been here before and it was very good, but this visit wasn't great.

Excellent bistro, service and food was great. Highly recommended. 👌

Great restaurant with great service and the food was delicious.

We were shown down steps to cellar. Table by bottom of stairs with people up and down. Table top sticky. Cutlery stuck to it. Swordfish steak ok but whole plate swimming in oil. desserts spoken by waiter All were sweet and yuckie. Not even option of a sorbet. Very disappointing. Will never go again.

Another fantastic lunch at the chancel had the roast lamb absolutely lovely , reasonably priced food and wine can’t believe more people more people don’t visit this fantastic restaurant .

Food was excellent and the staff all went out of their way to make us feel welcome even giving my daughter a graduation card it was such a lovely special touch we will definitely be back.

Lovely food and great service we had a lovely meal for my fiancées birthday!

The food was stunning, really TOP NOTCH! My fillet steak cooked to perfection and I asked for a Pear and blue cheese salad in lieu of chips/veg this was no problem. My wife had swordfish and she loved it, my father in law had chicken Valdestona and he raved about the flavour being so good, his wife had the fish pie and that was big and really tasty with beautiful pieces of fish. Overall probably one of the best restaurants we have been to in a really long time.,11/10. Oh and the wine was really very good along with the Gins, excellent.

Lovely meal in a charming restaurant. Pleasant helpful staff and a good menu. There were several things that appealed to all of us. We fish and chips' a seafood pasta and fish pie. All of it delicious and we will be coming again. For a pre-theatre meal.

Lovely place with friendly staff, food is nice just small things that if changed would make this superb, i had the scallops and chorizo to start it was beautifully cooked but chorizo overpowered the scallops a little, my husband had the belly pork which was perfectly cooked except the crackling which he couldn't eat as tasted burnt and just disintegrated but rest of meal was lovely, my steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. I would like to see a dessert menu or a board with desserts on as when we asked to see one the lovely waitress just tells you what they have, this put us off as like to look at the desserts and see how they are served but when she told us what they had i couldn't remember what she had said a few minutes later. As i said though it was a lovely meal and we would definitely return.

Excellent food, ambience, wine, service and centrality for The Theatre Royal (our destination at 19:30). The Chancel was able to accommodate our early dining requirement, whereas competing restaurants wouldn’t! Thanks The Chancel for a fabulous dinner and start to the weekend!

It was very busy/noisy owing to the fact they had a function on. We were stuck in a corner, chairs were uncomfortable. Service was very good. Food was fine.

Food was amazing, they were brilliant in accommodated us regarding food allergies and intolerances. Staff were very approachable. Overall an excellent experience.

Food was very good as was the service.A little disappointed that they had a small selection of beer , all bottled. But that should not detract from a very enjoyable experience.

Have been to the chancel a few times and I am never disappointed! Great food, lovely atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff.

Fantastic service, only problem is that we ordered a bottle of shiraz at around £18 which you didn't have so we were offered a different bottle but not told the price which we found out at the end of the meal cost around £23. We thought if you didn't have the bottle we ordered, it would be the same price of the bottle that we originally ordered.

We enjoyed a lovely beetroot and feta salad as part of our three course pre theatre supper. Tried the recommended red wine a Tempranillo I think. Attentive and friendly staff. Love it.
