We booked Chequers for my sons Birthday meal. Bit noisy where we were sat, the table could only be accessed from one end, which it hard to get into. Everything ok. Nice place. We requested a few things that weren’t done. Felt the waitresses could have been more chatty. Although they were all polite.

One excellent meal and one poor meal. The fish and chips was of poor quality. There was very little fish within the batter. We told staff we were disappointed but nothing was done apart from them saying sorry. The manager did not comment or come over to us.

We love the Chequers and Jo does an amazing job running things, as they are always so busy. We never have any complaints, however last night we had a waitress who - took quite a time to take a drinks order before we'd received the drinks menu. We then asked for the wine menu, she then brought it over and left - finally she came back and asked about rose as it wasn't on the menu - then she said "oh did you want rose?" Finally she brought the rose menu! It was painful and weird that she didn't provide us with the complete wine menu at the start. I don't like to complain but it was very frustrating because it all took so long. Anyway the important thing is the food was great as usual and the service - apart from the false start - was good.

Friendly attentive staff. Tasty food, well presented and perfectly cooked.

The food and atmosphere was really good. The pub was busy and had a large wedding - which had the knock on effect of the first course being a little slow.

Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, attentive staff and good menu selection.

It was our first time here and despite booking a late lunch, we were made to feel very welcome and not at all rushed. Service was a little slow to start, but not a problem to us and to be fair, they were quite busy with tables indoors and out. Food was delicious and very ample portions. Can highly recommend the soufflé and the chocolate tart with salted caramel ice cream, nom nom!

Overall this is a great place with an interesting food/wine menu. On the night we were there it was busy as their was a wedding party and our young waitress was a bit elusive but very pleasant although we did have to ask several times for drinks . We fully appreciate these are difficult times with everyone having to go the extra mile and we will return soon !

Been coming to the chequers for years and never, ever been disappointed! Today I treated myself to a fillet steak…. Incredible! Probably just the best I’ve ever had actually! We had wine, sticking toffee pudding, and espresso and brandy. Service, quality of food, environment all perfect! Definitely recommend!

Service slow and below acceptable standard; a Hoegaarden beer was flat and of poor taste. Had to go into restaurant from garden to get the bill, and found no staff there. Had to knock on doors and call out to get service.

Lovely experience marred slightly by the painful use of online ordering and payments via the app.

Good service good food. We will return soon with pleasure.

Very relaxing evening in a great pub, will be back again

Food and setting was great but so so slow and the enforced app ordering for drinks doesn’t work as is can’t accept apple pay as offered. Was there 90 mins for a really quick lunch so just too slow if your there in a lunch break. But good food and friendly
