Very good service. The game pie could have been warmer.

Lovely atmosphere, great menu. Very busy but service was excellent. We had the veggie roast, the mushroom wellington was delicious. Roast potatoes a little anaemic could have been crispier. Yorkshire pudding should be offered as not everyone is vegan and it comes with all other roasts. All round though a lovely meal and great service.

Every meal was delicious in lovely surroundings with a warm and inviting atmosphere and excellent friendly service.

4 of us were dining and 3 meals were lovely but the person who had fish and chips found that the batter on the fish was soggy. Not being one to complain they ate it but had an upset stomach the next day suggesting it wasn’t fully cooked. Also, no one came to our table to ask if everything was ok or to see if we wanted another drink.

The roast dinners were fab, although the portions were huge! The mushroom Wellington not so good as the pastry was soggy(microwaved?) However the overall experience was great. Staff thoughtful and friendly and good service. Creme Bruce to die for!

Lovely food, great service, good value. Had the roast turkey Sunday lunch. Portions were extremely generous. Good variety of vegetables, mash and roast potatoes and beautiful tender turkey. Was delicious.

Fabulous food as always! A trip to Keswick not the same without a visit to the Horse and Farrier!!!

Very busy for a Monday and the two waiters on duty struggled to provide the quality service. I also feel the ingredients used for my meal were sub standard. It wasn’t the typical Cumbrian Sausage.

Great setting. Warm atmospheric welcoming. Huge sunday roast. Pork excellent veg good. Mash bit peppery for my taste and stuffing bit pasty. Undercooked? Swede crush and greens fab. Excellent Torte and great wine and beer. A must if in the area.

Great visit with a very mixed party. Fast service on all fronts, great food (although I would say that there was almost too much on the plates!) and such good quality! Lovely staff and all so helpful.

Travelled to Threlkeld to watch the amazing Tom Smith play at the village hall. Ordered the roast ham and half roast chicken for our meals. Large portion sizes, friendly staff. Nice strong coffee to finish.

My favourite place to eat in the Lakes. Just love this cosy pub/ restaurant. Delicious ( as always) homecooked roast dinners & had to have a scrumptious pudding of course! Great cutomer service from our waiters & Keith. Homely , always clean & although some new refurbishments still retains it's traditional atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again.

We have visited the H&F many times in the past and had good experiences. However, on this occasion the food was not good. The batter on the fish was soggy and the chips were not fully cooked. The bread accompanying the falafel burger was dry. I’m not sure we will be returning.

Not as good as our past experience of this pub, was our favourite place to eat in Lakes but not what it was. Lemonade tasted chemically and beer didn’t seem looked after, fish and meat pie were good though. Shame probably won’t return 🙁

After reading the most recent dining reviews, I was seriously worried about my meal reservation, however I had no need to worry, the food was delicious, hot and plentiful, and the service polite and attentive.
