The Riccarton Inn Pub and Dining

Very Good Food with prompt table service, classic Scottish style country pub, menu with Scottish dishes and a good range of beers, spirits and wines.

My son is at Herriot Watt ,when we come to visit him we have enjoy a family meal here .The food and service is very good .The pub/Restuarant has a cosy and friendly atmosphere .This was our 3rd visit since September and look forward to fitting in a few more before he finishes Uni .#greatfind

Good pub food served by friendly, efficient staff in a traditional inn. Extensive menu. Good selection of beers on tap. Make sure you book in advance at weekends.

Good food, atmosphere and a nice selections of drinks. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable on current food and drink selection. Service is quick and with a smile. Very happy with my second visit. My wife had the breaded Camembert to start which was lovely. I had the chicken and black pudding terrine which was nice but a bit cold and hard, still nice once eaten! For main course I had the small fish and chips as I wasn't sure of sizes but would definitely go for the large the next time. I think small is probably fine for a light bite and possibly a hungry child. Fish was well cooked and batter not too oily. Came with mushy peas and tartar sauce. My wife had the chicken in peppercorn sauce with haggis bon bons which was well cooked and was satisfying. We had a bottle of pinot grigio also, which came in a chiller with ice. Glasses were clean. All in all a nice pub and restaurant. Will visit again.

We were here for family birthday and there were 7 of us. Our order was taken quickly and the food was served promptly. The Meals were excellent and staff very efficient.

Lovely place, menu has the sort of pub grub you want after a country walk, food is delicious and served quickly, which is great when you’re with kids.

Amazing the food the service the staff are incredible and nothing is to much bother, on arrival our table was was set lovely with the high chair requested... amazing

There were real fires burning in the grates when we arrived for lunch. The country-style pub-restaurant is very welcoming; we sat in a booth facing the bar, which was well stocked with a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The food and service were excellent, and the quantities were generous. Indeed, I did not have room for dessert. I will happily recommend the Riccarton Inn to others.

Good food freshly prepared, excellent service and good value for money

The service was pretty slow and we had to ask for our orders to be taken, more drinks, the bill etc. but apart from that the food was really nice and the staff were all friendly. Will be back soon!

I had the beer battered haddock, which was lovely. My friend had the macaroni cheese, though nice, was a little bit greasy. The pub has a nice relaxed atmosphere, with very pleasant staff.

Food delicious but had to send starter of soup as not hot enough for both of us. Everything else was super defiantly go back and try food again.

You always get quality food and good service. Servings are large great value. I have eaten here regularly over the past 6 years and have never experienced anything other than good food.

Lovely meal ,the Cullen skink best I have had in a long time. Hubby had the burger .very busy and staff very pleasant would recommend. ☺

Good food, way better than average, attentive staff, lovely ambience in a period building. Family friendly, although not usually many children present. Full bar available.

The Riccarton inn continues to provide excellent service and food at very reasonable prices. There is a friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk in, which is a credit to the staff, even when they are busy. I regularly take visiting friends there and have not once had someone who hasn't enjoyed their visit. We continue to eat and drink here for occasions such as a family dinner out, to more formal celebrations.

Food good, staff friendly. Service unusually slow and disorganised, for some reason.

Food was excellent and there was a nice atmosphere. Staff were polite and attentive though they did forget to bring our water and I had to remind them. We will dine there again.

Lovely food and surroundings. Good value for money and great service. Limited menu, but the choices really suited us and the food was of very good quality with generous portions. A thoroughly enjoyable visit - would certainly return and no hesitation in recommending to othets.

Service was good but the fish was a bit greasy and the chips were a bit wee. Was better the last time we were there.

Excellent staff,only thing I would advise is a better choice for main menu. Would recommend to my family and friends. Will be back again from Dundee

Service and food is always great. This visit didn’t disappoint. We do love a cocktail after dinner but staff weren’t confident in making them. Be nice if some could be trained up on the cocktail menu. Would always recommend this pub for its friendly welcome and good food though.

Wide menu choice. Good fish & chips - option of having a smaller portion which was great. Variety of wines on their list. Friendly service.

The food was fantastic, we were made to feel very wolcome, there is a wonderful amotsphere, all in all we would highly recommend the Riccy

Great price, fast service, nice location and very friendly staff. If you are looking for some great food and local to the area, then this is a great place to eat and drink.

Delicious cullen skink. Some of the dishes better than others. Se Vice started off as very attentive and ended with non existent. Ok pub lunch but dogs at tables where food is served, barman stroking dogs, not washing hands and then serving food and tv above my head spoiled it for me.

Delighted with the quality of the food and service and I'm happy to recommend the Riccarton Inn for an enjoyable meal in an excellent atmosphere.

The Riccarton Arms is a lovely pub. It has a Vibrant and pleasant atmosphere and friendly and efficient service. Food is good but a little pricey.

Always a busy wee place, but not too full Good and quick, friendly service and very reasonable prices too. A regularly rotating menu and a good choice of specials too always make this a safe bet.
