Nothing on menu apart from set menu my wife was offered fish which she had and her chips were very dry also pitta bread with starter was brick hard and cold
Had an amazing Valentines Dinner here from their Valentines set menu. Couldn’t have done enough for us. Had a few cocktails and they were delicious! Service was speedy, staff were friendly and attentive and the most important - food was yum!
Great service and lovely food in this quaint little bistro
Thoroughly enjoyed lunch quality food and friendly staff good beer.
We were given a warm welcome at this pleasant and comfortable bistro. I had requested a good table as we were treating a, special friend, and we were seated at a great table. The food did not match the welcome. Two of us chose the chicken ballotine. The chicken was dry and the accompanying vegetables were poor. The fennel bulb was bitter and the Jerusalem artichokes were dry and not pleasant. I found myself wishing I had chosen a different dish. We felt the food was vastly overpriced because of this standard of cooking.
We enjoyed our meal.Friendly welcome and excellent service. It was nice to be served fresh bread on arrival. My wife enjoyed her vegan courses. I was slightly disappointed with my dessert-the chocolate delice. It was rather sweet and smothered in cream ! Excellent coffee and fudge.
Great service, great food, great prices. Will definitely be back.
After about 15 years it was so good to return and find such a fine restaurant still there!!!!
Salmon was not cooked and the haddock was mainly batter.
Great food and service in a lovely location. We will return
Wonderful place to eat - great personable staff and a lovely atmosphere.
The staff were lovely, we were served very quickly after ordering, and the food was excellent. The toilets were spotless.
Great restaurant, great atmosphere, unfortunately some of the girls were very unfriendly!
We met friends for lunch and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and surroundings. Beautiful local produce. Great variety of menu choice.
Lovely birthday celebration for my mother and our family. Food was delicious and service was excellent.
Delicious food and great service as always. A lovely meal to mark my husband’s birthday.
Lovely cosy table by the fire, prompt service, excellent food - couldn't ask for more
Delicious food, great staff, and lovely ambience- will definitely return!
Food, service, ambience were all very good. Price for food and drinks we're also reasonable.
I have been to The Waterside Bistro in Haddington quite a few times now. As always the food, service and staff were all excellent. The only thing I would like to point out is that your festive menu is still on your website. I think you need to update that, as it may put people off if they don't know what the menu is. I look forward to coming back again for lunch in the very near future. Thank you.
Amazing food and service as always! Cosy bar for a post dinner drink as well.
Would have liked more 'basic' choices in menu rather than 'specialised'.
Really friendly team and enjoyed our meal there today for lunch!
Lovely staff and an imaginative menu, with freshly cooked food. All our choices were delicious.
Love it here! Food always great and service second no none!!!
The food was very lovely and staff were very friendly
Location, ambience, food and especially the staff are all great.
Visited with a group of friends, everyone was raving about their food, the service was attentive and efficient. A great night was had by all . 5*
Staff were welcoming & professional. They took us through the Specials Menu very well, giving info & explanations when asked. I am lactose intolerant & this was very helpful for me. Food was super!
First time at The Waterside and the food and service was amazing. Cocktails were also amazing. Will definitely be back
Staff were polite and attentive. Food was generally ok. The cod main was tasty but the cod was over cooked and therefore dry and the Brie starter was seriously lacking to merit a £9 price tag. The roast beef was lovely and so was the salmon starter. My husband enjoyed his venison casserole. The waterside is a lovely building with great ambience.
Superb!!, food was great, service was great- we had a wonderful meal.
We had a really lovely meal. It was a great atmosphere, though there was quite a noisy table of a Christmas night out (though not complaining! It’s Christmas after all.) The food was lovely, really interesting, well thought out menu. The service was fantastic, every single member of staff was welcoming and helpful.
For good food at a not exorbitant price in a nice location you can’t go far wrong with the Waterside.
Very attentive friendly staff and excellent food! Never disappointed! Excellent.
Party of 5. The staff coped very well considering the restaurant was full upstairs and downstairs, also the bar. Meal was lovely and hot. Carrots hard but down to preference! A lovely warm welcome when we arrived. Would recommend!!!
Terrific food, lovely staff, great atmosphere. Really put us in a xmas mood
Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Good variety of options on menu. Restaurant was nice and cosy.
Only gripe is that 2 orders were incorrect, although sorted out fairly quickly
Lovely setting. Super attentive and friendly staff thank you! Delicious food.
Lovely service and cosy Christmas atmosphere. Food was delicious and good choice.
Warm reception and excellent Christmas atmosphere. Our group ranged in age from 84 to 7 years and everyone’s needs were well catered for!
As always excellent service great choice on the menu. Thanks
The chowder was some lumps of fish in a thick broth with orange cheese grated over the top; not chowder, and not appealing. I only ate a few bites. The main was tasteless risotto with dried porcini mushrooms which were like thick, hard powder. Inedible. The bottled Highland Spring water was good! Won't be back.
The food was fabulous, pate starter tasted amazing and their haddock just melts in your mouth, staff are attentive and welcoming, perfect evening.
Great food and fantastic service. My first visit but I will def come back.
Lovely atmosphere and service was excellent. They made us feel very welcome when we arrived, table was perfect for elderly (102!) visitor and did everything to make us comfortable. Menu had excellent choice and kids options suited perfectly too. All food was delicious, special mention for the poached pear cheesecake - absolutely amazing, tasted like Christmas!! Would highly recommend.
Grilled plaice served with a green salad and salsa was a new combination for me. I enjoyed it and will probably choose a simple green salad as a side to accompany grilled plaice again.
The service was excellent and the ambiance was really nice it was cosy with a lovely buzz. The staff were professional, friendly and efficient. The food was just ok, I had the turkey dinner and it was fairly tasteless and only one roast potato, husband had the breaded fish and again just ok. I would also say the wooden bench seating even using the two seat pads was uncomfortable it certainly wouldn’t have encouraged us to stay longer to have another drink. We would return for drinks if in the area.
The Waterside is always a lovely venue but Christmas can bring even the best to their knees - not here! The usual incredibly high standards of food, service and atmosphere made this as special as any other occasion as this fantastic restaurant.
