the waterside location is the best part, it is really beautiful by the river and the standardly reliable pub food is well presented. Booking was simple and efficient and we had no trouble in getting a table (I booked a few days ahead as we were going to an event in Haddington later). I'd definitely recommend the Waterside Bistro for a pleasant restorative meal and pint
I took my friend for the very first time. We were very early but welcomed with open arms. Staff as always were friendly and professional. Food was the usual very high standard. Although she lives in Edinburgh my friend and her friends will visit again soon. Dave and I will also be back very soon. Thank you. Eileen Black
Service was excellent and staff on hand and friendly. Food was great too

Very attentive and friendly staff. Lovely food. Would definitely recommend.
Welcoming, excellent service, delicious food. Perfect for a summer evening.
Lovely location. Interesting menu and well cooked food Always busy
Good food, friendly and efficient service, sensible prices, we enjoyed our visit.
The food was great and the main man was very polite. None of the waitresses smiled which took the rating down.
Beautiful setting by the river. Pleasant staff. Food nice. Great wine! Price reasonable.
Wonderful food and outstanding service once again, never disappoints. Always recommend booking.
Enjoyed Al fresco dining here. Started with lamb kofta & haggis fritters followed by a ribeye & fillet. Gorgeous fresh food. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Beautiful setting right beside the water. Dog friendly too. Lemon posset topped a perfect meal ☺️
1st course: mussels fine; 'wild' mushrooms on a 'bruschetta' poor - the bruschetta came as an untoasted piece of white bread, the mushrooms were mainly button mushrooms and the salsa seemed as if it came straight from a bottle, with no hint of the promised oregano (unless it was dried and mixed with the 'salsa'). 2nd course: grilled rainbow trout was a large portion of sea trout, probably oven baked. Puy lentil salad was fine but accompanying vegetables a mixture that didn't work together. No sign of any chervil. Two glasses of wine (Rose from Provence and Prosecco) were left less than half drunk. Pint of the local ale was excellent. Made these points when asked how the meal was and offered a generous discount (refused as we had eaten much of the meal)
Lovely food in a nice atmosphere with great service and good value
It is a wonderful location and reasonable value for money for an area where the food tends to be pricey
Lovely resteraunt in a very picturesque location on the river. Couldn’t fault it.
Loved the food, great menu, value for money, lovely setting, brilliant service, wonderful overall experience. Thank you.
Excellent staff, attentive but not intrusive. Meals served promptly. Food well presented and of excellent quality. There was even a free dessert! (It was my birthday.)
Really enjoyable experience only issue was where we were seated there was 3 dogs round about. Not everyone is comfortable with dogs and this should be taken into consideration. There are 2 main seating areas maybe one should be kept dog free.
The roast beef, yorkies etc were very good. Especially appreciated the gravy boat per person. Very generous portions - too generous if anything. Having had a starter, none of our party had room for a pud.
Waterside Bistro never disappoints, food and service excellent every time. First class as always from James and all the team.
Great location and friendly, efficient service. Lovely way to spend the evening.
Lovely meal in a lovely restaurant. Well worth it and will return
Took advantage of the Sunday lunch special, loved the roast beef and some of the items from the main menu. Would definitely come back!
Very good evening with excellent food and atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I were meeting a friend for lunch.. we all had 2 starters each.. the smoked haddock soup was good..the lamb terrine was ok.. and the haggis fritters good.. the waiting staff were very attentive and overall we had a lovely lunch..
We had a great night, delicious food and good atmosphere
I came for thw sunday roast on sunday just past to celebrate my parents birthdays. While the food was good quality and mostly tasty it wasn't great. All four of us had the Sunday roast, when it arrived hough there wasn't much heat in the vegetables, the beef and the potatoes. The yorkshire puddings despite being burnt they too didn't have much heat in them. As I said the quality of food was good and the price was very reasonably but just not overly impressed as we have all been before and know the food is usually of a higher standard. Thanks Robbie
It was my 30th birthday celebration, and service was really good and food was delicious! Thank you
Super attentive service all evening from the Waterside Bistro waitstaff.
Enjoyed a burger with salad and chips tonight. Lovely. Beautiful location.
The food is amazing and so is the service, they make you feel very welcome.
Food was brilliant. Well presented and delicious. We were shocked at the end of the meal as the bill was much lower than we thought it would be. Highly recommend the house red too
Superbe, accueil, excellent repas, viande top top ,et le reste vraiment très bon dau millieu d un cadre magnifique, une adresse à recommander
Très bel endroit, très typique et nourriture excellente, le personnel est serviable et souriant à conseiller
Great welcome, bistro was busy but the welcome was first class. Pity the table was "sticky", it needed a clean, side plates were virtually welded to the table. Very busy menu, a bit too much, would be better making menu larger or the wording typed rather than hand written look. Lots of gluten free dishes, or options but only one gluten free beer on draught, an IPA no other option, not even bottled. The food itself was very good, service was excellent only a bit pricey for what we had. Chicken salad £22 and half fish and chips £15, although portion of peas could have had a knob of butter at least. Lovely establishment, really busy, service good. Would not take a lot to make it excellent.
The staff were kind and amazing and we all loved the food thank you very much
Friendly staff, excellent food, enjoyable atmosphere. Will go again when next in the area
