Great lunch . Had the fixed menu and found it hard to choose. Wanted both non meat options! Service excellent as usual, not overbearing but always around if needed.

Another excellent experience at 1884. I brought a couple of guests from America and they were thoroughly impressed. The Venison Wellington was perfection. We look forward to our next visit.

Gorgeous food. The complimentary freshly baked bread was amazing. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant is lovely. Would dine there again & recommend to friends.10/10.

Have been on several occasions for the set menu lunch. Amazing food, excellent service and beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend to everyone, am looking forward to when I next visit Hull so I can go again.

The waiting time for the starter (one hour) and then for the main course (30 minutes) was unacceptably long. Whilst this was on a Saturday night, which can of course cause delays, the restaurant was by no means full.

Overall we had an excellent meal. Only one recommendation would be that the butter should be soft such that it can be applied to the bread instead of being rock hard.

Exquisite, fantastic, awesome, amazing, delicious, flavoursome. There are too many good words to describe this restaurant. I can't highly recommend it enough!!! Go there now!

Company board meeting lunch enjoyed by all. Traditionally we would use Ceruttis but it seems we have found our new home! We all look forward to our next visit.

Food seems to have gone downhill. Also a bit miffed that we were charged as for a market menu, yet we weren't offered our free glasses of prosecco. Also, I called specially to ask about veggie choices for my daughter, but waiters had no suggestions to help. In the end, I had to suggest something. It was a lovely evening overall, but could have been a better dining experience.

Excellent Service and Excellent Food !! We have been to 1884 a few times now and it is without a doubt the best restaurant in Hull.

Normally brilliant. But the beef had to be sent back, far too tough. Same with the second one I was brought, but at least the did give me a sharp cheese knife because obviously it wasn't the beef it was my feeble ability to cut it! On a positive they did not charge me for the meal I didn't eat. This was such a shame as I have eaten here many times before and the food and service are normally flawless.

the staff were friendly and very accommodating, especially towards my disabled Grandmother. The service was excellent, leaving enough time between courses. The food was lovely.

Simply, I have eaten at most restaurants in Hull over the past years and no one beats 1884 Dock Street Kitchen. The food is outstanding, full of complimentary flavours and a pleasure for my taste buds. All the fish dishes myself and my partner have tried are nothing short of true perfection and presentation is always visually amazing. The restaurant is light, airy, beautifully designed, the atmosphere is always really welcoming and the staff are true professionals. This restaurant is genuine Michelin star quality and we are looking forward to seeing the new menu in March 2016. 10 out of 10 in every way and we are very very happy customers.

Food was excellent. Portion sizes were good. Friendly staff good service will definitely visit again. My only slight criticism would be the variety available. I don't eat fish or red meat so there was very little I could order

The vegetarian options were poor, we didn't got an entrance because the only option was a soup, the main dishes option were pasta but for the type of restaurant we're expecting something more sofisticated. We order champagne and it was slightly warm, not at a temperature a champagne should be served. The service was bad. The main dishes were put on the table without removing the starter plates, when asking if they could be moved, the lady serving did it with bad face on making us feel very uncomfortable. We were offered the menu à la carte since the beginning but for desert we were only given the market menu. I thought it was strange but we still order and we only realize that they had more options because the couple next to us had completed different desserts that we're not offered. In 2015, we went to 1884 and we had a stunning experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the service very good. This last experience made us feel we don't want to go there again. For all that, I do not recommend 1884.

We visited 1884 for Mother's Day. Amazing food and service. Can't wait to go again! I would recommend this place to anyone. If you like good food definitely visit this place

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. Everything cooked to perfection. All round a first class experience, I can't recommend 1884 more highly. Book yourself a table now.

Our table was booked for 18.00, and the doors didn't open until 18.00 so we were stood outside for 10minutes wondering if it had closed down. No answer on the phone and no sign of life. The head waiter was very curt when the doors were opened, however our first drinks were complimentary to apologise for the "confusion". Having said that the service, food and wine were very good.

A frequent visitor before I turned vegan, I wasn't sure about how they cope with such a potentially awkward dietary request, so I avoided going for a while. I shouldn't have. After booking online and mentioning I was vegan, my friend and restaurant manager, James had already spoken to the chefs who came up with two lovely sounding starters and two mains, I opted for garden salad to start and roasted butternut squash for main, both were beautifully looking dishes which tasted as good as they looked. A sign of a good restaurant can be how they deal with special requests and I can't fault 1884 on this or indeed any of the other numerous visits I've made there. Perfect.

Always good. I'm a regular of a few years and the quality is always consistent and service very pleasant. Food choices are great off the a a la carte and often inspired on the pris fixe.

Having wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time we were really looking forward to our meal here. However the service really let down the experience on this occasion. We were sat 30 minutes before even water was brought to the table. The bread arrived first?! We had to ask several times to have a wine menu, ask to order the drinks and then chase up our order. The service was good after this initial poor start and the food was good. The waiter was very concerned we hadn't had the service we should have done and did deduct a small token amount from the bill. But overall we left disappointed after a very expensive meal that didn't live up to our expectations.

Food and wine was delicious resonable price however waiter give me the impression he thought he was better then us. Will defiantly be going back.

Great service and wonderful food, as always. I particularly enjoyed being taken through the extensive cheeseboard selection! The staff happily picked us out some lovely drinks to compliment our food throughout our three courses.

Very slow & miserable service, got the order wrong and by the time it was corrected I was eating on my own. Very disappointed. For £500.00 I expected far better.

Gorgeous home cooked food once again. Beautiful surroundings and a great atmosphere for our Sunday lunch with family, celebrating a few birthdays. Staff were wonderful.

Great meal, lovely atmosphere and friendly waiting team as always. Beef carpaccio, oysters and fish dishes delicious. Cheese board excellent with Charcoal cheddar well worth a try.

Food fresh and delicious. Lovely setting, beautiful room, attentive and friendly staff. Our Norwegian waiter was great. We mentioned in passing that it was my son's birthday and at the end of the meal he was brought a special birthday sweet. The three course lunch set menu is very good value.

Fantastic food and the service was very efficient. The atmosphere was very good and the staff were pleasant, professional, smart and very friendly. I would not hesitate to come back to this restaurant.

We ate early on a Friday evening and enjoyed extremely attentive service and exceptionally good food. My gnocchi was delicious and my husband said his steak was cooked beautifully but sadly we didn't have space to try the desserts.

We ordered from the market menu, £22 for 3 courses including a glass of prosecco which was extremely good value for money. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Will certainly be visiting again very soon!

Food was excellent as always. On this visit the service was a little slow. We were rather annoyed that after paying our £62 pounds bill with £70 our change was not brought back to us but was put straight in to the tip jar!! This was done without asking if that was okay. We had to ask the serving staff for our change to be returned to us.

Another delicious meal. My Daughter asked for Mayonanaise. The Chef made some fresh for her. Service great. Food great. Can't wait to try their Tapas bar

The food was defiantly worth the price. We was catered to our needs and the staff always made sure we were satisfied. The only thing is that I booked with a birthday plate extra and that didn't come and I had to remind them and it still didn't come, overall it was okay.

From friendly staff from the moment we walked in, to the excellent food, this was a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend Sunday lunch. Value for money.

The food is excellent. A good choice of dishes that look attractive and comprise excellent and imaginative combinations of Tate. with outstanding, but unobtrusive service. The cheese board, consisting of a dazzling range of English cheeses, is remarkable. The wine list and range of spirits is impressive. The service is highly professional, efficient and unobtrusive. This rated among our best restaurant experiences of all time.
