Top quality food and beautifully presented, served by friendly and attentive staff. At no time did we feel rushed and we enjoyed a three hour leisurely celebration meal for my husbands birthday. We were a party of six, four of whom had travelled over a hundred miles to join us and who declared it was well worth the journey - even though they had to make the return journey home after the meal..The whole dining experience was special and we look forward to another such evening.

We received good service , the food was nice and well presented . We will come again , with special occasions , like birthday and anniversary .

Excellent food and service. Made welcome when entered restaurant and shown straight to our reserved table. Complimentary canapes and vegetables where a pleasant surprise. Excellent wine selection.

Very good meal, portion sizes a little on the small side but brilliant for me. Great selection to choose from and excellent service and attention. Will be going back.

The food is fantastic, it's the sort of food you couldn't cook at home with exceptional presentation. The staff are very friendly, attentive but not intrusive and they all seem knowledgable on the food.

What a gem of a restaurant - unexpected find. From the outside it looks like any other building around the marina area - but once inside the restaurant comes to life. It is totally relaxed, however sophisticated at the same time. Excellent food enjoyed by all members of our party. Very enjoyable evening, and i am sure we will be back.

Lovely food as ever but the restaurant seemed more frantic than usual. Very busy, it took ages to get someone's attention to order our drinks. Only one cheese with the set menu was disappointing-especially with £3 for each extra. It's hardly a cheese course dessert with one cheese.

Excellent service despite being busy. Lovely location and surroundings. Good choice of food but spinach side dish quite salty but well presented. Had a very good evening. Would go back.

Classy venue; efficient, friendly yet un-obtrusive staff. Food beautifully presented. Didn't award a 6 because my lamb ( not the hotpot which was delicious and very lamby) was tasteless- it could have been any meat. Overall a really enjoyable visit and special birthday celebration.

Our evening started off very well by a warm welcome by a friendly waiter who showed us to our table, the food was excellent and the presentation was very impressive.

Food is absolutely top draw with a great ambience to the venue. Premium price but certainly backed with premium food and service! Looking forward to next time

We had Sunday lunch which we enjoyed. Good quality food. Service was a little slow due to some large groups in the restaurant though this was not a problem for us. Staff were helpful.

Good food, traditional Sunday roast. Good atmosphere, nice setting and decor. Good wine. Good service, polite, friendly and helpful. Some perhaps more casual than expected. Good price, set Sunday menu very cheap for the quality of the food.

Polite helpful staff. Clean warm restaurant. Portions far too small, could have done with more potatoes & veg. Starter was minute! Either produce more food or reduce your prices.

Excellent food, excellent staff and excellent place. I couldn't recommend 1884 enough, I have been several times and never been disappointed. Food and customer service always to the highest standard, this makes for such an enjoyable experience.

Waited over 40 minutes after arriving to place our order. Service too slow at over 2 hours to complete meal. Different tastes exquisite but not a fan of nouvelle cuisine portions.

As always, fantastic food in a brilliant setting. The 3 course set menu is a steal. Will be visiting again in the near future. Get booking.

My wife and I enjoyed a fine dining experience, the service was attentive but discreet the food was exceptional and the wine was the finest known to mankind, the only negative was that the champagne was a little flat, we should have ordered a bottle rather than a glass each. Overall we look forward to going back.

Excellent setting on the Marina, we had a nice welcome and there was a lovely atmosphere for a lunchtime meeting with clients. Very nice thank you.

Reasonably priced 3 course set menu using good quality ingredients cooked well. The restaurant setting is smart but can be noisy due to wooden floors and no table cloths.

Very pleasant service. Food ok but very small portion size, even the soup was about 1/2 inch deep in a large tureen. Access very difficulty for my registered disabled wife.

A pleasant evening but not up to the usual standard. Some food was over seasoned and service lacked attention to detail. Feels like the place has lost its way a little.

Nice interior, excellent service, a little on the cool side for February and the food didn't meet our expectations but we will give it another try soon.

Welcoming reception to a busy restaurant. Taittinger champagne makes a marvellous aperitif, especially at £8.50, and the lunch menu was a similar bargain with 3 choices on every course. Fine hamhock terrine, tender shin beef with lots of vegetables and a truly wobbly pannacotta. Many wines available by the glass and carafe, including Riscal Reserva Riojja. Excellent service. Highly recommended for lunch.

exspectaion was very high but as usual the came up trumps, great food great staff great place to spend 3 hours on a Sunday Afternoon. Looking forward to our next visit.

Booked table for 12, arrived 15 minutes early not knowing they opened dead on 12 so very cold wait outside but food lovely, great staff, excellent!

AMazing food, ambiance, decor, drinks and service. First time there, but would definitely recommend and definitely be returning for another date night special meal !

It was our 38 year wedding anniversary to remember, wine was warm had to ask for an ice bucket and ice cubes, complimentary cheese balls tasteless, fish starter didn't taste good and eventually led to being sick in the street and eventually heavily sick at home, main meal Bangers and mash which tasted of salt it self and could not be finished, main meal cold chips returned for hot chips, quail not cooked complete still with blood, filet stake cooked correct but served on a cold plate, overall very disappointing, after complaining we did get a reduction on the bill !!!! but we would rather had a good meal. Mr Mrs Barker.

Lovely setting, very nicely appointed. It was a Friday evening so plenty of fellow diners but not too noisy. Chose from the Prix Fixe menu, had scallops and carpaccio for starters. Beautifully presented, flavoursome and innovative. Mains were Pea and Asparagus tarts and pigeon Again, pictures on a plate. Delicious garlic mash as a side dish. Far too full for pudding. Excellent but friendly service. Quite expensive but how much work goes into all that foam/puree/smoke? Really enjoyed ourselves and will return

The food was very good, but the service was very slow. We were a group of 12 and the starters were not served within a short space of time from each other. The table was booked for 8 pm and the starters did not arrive until 9pm. We were entertaining high profile business clients, and as we are local to the restaurant we do intend to use the restaurant on a regular basis. This was rather worrying for future group bookings.

Very warm welcome and very attentive staff. The restaurant and bar area are very well designed. The lack of vegetarian choices on both the set menu & al a carte menu resulted in me only giving 5 out of 6. The food was top rate. We will definite book to go again.

Excellent value set menu for Saturday lunch at £14 for 2 courses (had intended £18 for 3 but couldn't fit it in). Attentive but not obtrusive staff. Very pleased to see English wine on the wine list, and the glasses of English sparkling we had for £7.50 each were delicious. Will definitely return.

Best restaurant in Hull by a street. The whole experience start to finish is first class. The food is fantastic. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Excellent quality food, good service and wonderful decor. We had the lunch time set menu, 3 courses for about £18 which was fantastic value for the quality of food.

We really enjoyed our evening at 1884 Dock Street. For gin lovers they have an amazing variety on offer. The food (with matching wine) was excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
