What a fantastic place to eat. The food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and well rehearsed in making it a great experience.
This was our third visit excellent as usual but one point the banana cake was a bit dry so was a bit disappointed but will still be back
Tasty, just right size, well presented and nicely served. My guests were impressed. Perfect lunch. We booked for lunch time just fraction earlier and it was a very good move.
Food very good, staff rather unfriendly.. Very good surroundings with good decoration and atmosphere.. The market menu was the best value, al la cartel rather expensive.
Visited for a Saturday lunch with the family and we were impressed. The staff were excellent we had a small issue and it was resolved perfectly. Food was exce,,net and well presented. We will visit again.
The 1884 Dock Street Kitchen is an excellent venue. The meal was lovely and very good service was provided. It's perfect for the special occasion!
Unfortunately the menu was not to our liking - perhaps trying to be too pretentious - no 'proper' food - we started with the 62 degree emulsyfyied egg yolk with a few mushrooms on leaves - Come On !!! - We shan't be returning for some while !
Love the new Layout - don't be put off by dining in the bar - it's really just as good! :-) keep up the good work
Excellent food and service as usual. Mackerel a delight, good fish pie, but the best thing was the gravy with the sausage and bubble'n'squeak. Will return.
Another brilliant Sunday lunch Brilliant service yet again Fantastic restaurant
We really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The staff were friendly and very efficient. Food was very good though on occasion somewhat lacking for the price we paid. The set menu is very good value for money.
We had a wonderful meal at Dock Street Kitchen - the service was first class, the food was delicious and the wine selection along with the cheese board was extensive - I would not hesitate to recommend the restaurant to anyone - 5 star. I have been a member of the Food & Wine society for many years and I will certainly be advising that the Dock Street Kitchen appear on our "short list" for proving a fantastic culinary delight. A return visit is certainly highly recommended.
We have eaten here before, admittedly a couple of years ago partly because whenever we have tried to rebook we have been unsuccessful. As previously, the service was very good, staff were attentive and were quick to correct an oversight when it was pointed out. However, whilst the presentation was lovely, the food was fresh and well cooked, we did feel that the prices were slightly higher than we would have expected to pay.
Service, as usual, was excellent. The food sublime, can't wait till my next visit. The wine list never fails. The cheese is amazing. There are not enough superlatives to gush about.
Food was generally good, although maybe not as great as we had hoped or had before, service a little hit and miss especially bearing in mind the price of the a la carte menu.
Excellent service & fabulous food~ Highly recommended The staff have made so much effort for all customers enjoying the meal, they worth a pay raise.
Both the service and food that we had was excellent. I went with my grandparents and they enjoyed it. An excellent restaurant if you don't mind paying a bit more
I loved the place! Decor was fanastic, service was friendly and conscientous, we had a slight problem with 2 of the meals but the kitchen have taken our feedback on board and hopefully will recitify these minor faults. Will definitely be going back!!
Staff were very friendly and we were well looked after from the second we walked through the door. The food was absolutely amazing. Definately be back again soon
Have been here 4 times now, the venue is very nice and the staff excellent. However, the food is very minimal unless you are having a steak. My starter was smoked haddock served with mussels and clams, it only just covered the bottom of the dish. The main course I chose which was a bit different was mutton, there was two tiny pieces of meat which was under cooked but I know that is how chefs like to serve meat so went with it, the potato was a spoonful, turned over and spread on the plate. I am not a massive eater by any means, but I was actually hungry when I left. My partner had rabbit for a starter and we thought it had jumped off the plate as nothing on the plate resembled rabbit. It is a special restaurant with fancy food and very artistic but this time very disappointed. .
Excellent value market menu, well cooked, full of flavour. Complementary bread and nibble served pre meal. Glass of prosecco included in the price. Professional and friendly service.
It was our first visit to 1884 and we will definitely return. The service was superb, the food was perfect as was the ambience. An amazing experience from start to finish.
Amazing food Amazing service 100% every time Love this restaurant. Me and my husband always have an excellent evening when we eat here and we are never disappointed it just keeps getting better and better
Scrummy food, really stylish surroundings, attentive staff - loved the whole experience and look forward to booking again in the new year. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
A fabulous evening, staff courteous and knowledgeable. Food great. Just need to save up for the next visit!! Saturday's al la carte menu only so be ware of this if it is your first visit.
Great ambience, not too loud with subtle background music. The service was very good & the food first class with excellent attention to detail. Will definitely go back again.
I booked a table here for my birthday meal after a few friends said it was good, I'm so glad I did it was the best meal out I've had in a long time, great food with great service it made my birthday absolutely fabulous would recommend this place to everyone. The set menu is such great value and quality! Definitely a little gem!
Excellent food superb staff lovely atmosphere the best in the hull area by far. Compliments to the staff chef and James front of house, we will be back very soon.
Wonderful food and atmosphere as always. My guests were thrilled at the overall experience and eager to return in the very near future. Many thanks Dave Dalton
LOVELY MEAL, SLIGHTLY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE CHEESE DESSERT IS NOT 2 OR 3 SMALLER BITS OF CHEESE RATHER THAN 1 AND THEN £3 FOR ANOTHER CHOICE
Having been to 1884 many times the usual warm welcome and very efficient service was consistent. Would have scored full marks but for one waiter whom gave the impression she didn't wish to be there. This did not spoil our experience though amasing food Yes we will be back
Love the restaurant we've been a number of times. Food is spectacular as always. Our waitress though this time was really quite miserable. Don't think she smiled once! But other than that it was fantastic
The food was fantastic, for the quality of food the price was very well placed. My only issue i could pick at is the service could have been a bit smoother/faster. Though, overall i would recommend this restaurant to others.
Would be nice to have someone offer to take your coat on arrival or at least to point out somewhere secure to leave it whilst eating.
Wonderful food. Good service. Relaxed atmosphere for a weekday lunch. Although we booked for the late sitting we were not rushed/ pressured to finish quickly which was lovely. Recommend this restaurant.
I enjoyed my evening At 1884 , I have coeliac disease and was catered for very well, I felt confident they knew what they were doing, from bringing gluten free bread to the table to a special appetiser . Wine was good and cold, food presented well and staff curtious. Definitely Hulls best restaraunt.. Not the cheapest of evenings £150 for two and they added some drinks to the bill twice, luckily we checked, but it niggles me... I'd recommend it to anyone for a special night..l you can cut costs down, I had a glass of champagne and oysters, we had 1 and half bottles of wine and liqueur coffees..
We opted for the Christmas menu and although limited choice were not disappointed. The dessert offering was the weakest part of the menu. Good service and friendly staff.
As usual we found that there was a good atmosphere with good food and good service . The restaurant seems to offer consistently reliable enjoyment
Fabulous food, great decor and atmosphere, staff wonderful made for a brilliant time, thank you. See you in a couple of weeks - looking forward to another great night :)
Had a lovely meal at 1884. Highly recommended. Week night menu very reasonable for fantastic food
Good food, nice surroundings and great value for Sunday lunch. two wine choices we made were not available, Two wine choices we made were not available, however we were offered an alternative at the same price.
The best restaurant in hull. Been here 4 times now, highly recommend. Excellent food & service. The place itself is very luxurious, lovely bar area.
As always the service was second to non the food was exesalant with the best steak in the area both my wife and I would thank you for making her birthday special Regards George Baker
Attentive to all our needs as usual, always cater for me and I am coeliac so require gluten free options. Fantastic staff who are always polite and helpful. Go here to dine quite regularly
Booked for an 18th birthday treat, James the manager absolutely wowed us with his knowledge and explanations of wines. Perfect food, excellent service. The ultimate dining experience.
Great meal! The service was very good. The food was amazing, really delicious and they had great wines to match. Overall it was a fabulous evening.
Wow! Amazing food and service. The best steak I've ever tasted!! Wine selectio excellent. We will definitely be going back soon and highly recommended !
The restaurant serves really tasty, quite elegant food, and offers a good wine list. There used to be a bar area where diners could take an aperitif before their meal, but this has been lost in a dining room reshuffle, which is a bit of a shame.
Absolutely lovely in every way. Had a lovely celebration of my husband's birthday. All the food was great, with impeccable service and an outstanding cheese trolley!
Fantastic Sunday lunch Never ceases to amaze me Service amazing Food stunning Drinks fantastic Atmosphere brilliant I love this restaurant and I will keep coming back. The best place to eat in hull
