Fantastic food, fantastic service. Unfortunalty we were sat near the door and got an icy blast when somebody came in or outthe restaurant. That wouldn't put us off going again.

Sunday lunch was exceptionally good. Tasty starters to choose from, a complimentary artisanal bread and delicious main course. Service from all staff was friendly and personal.

Food and atmosphere very good as usual. Starter was a little slow in arriving but the waitress did say she'd been asking the kitchen were it was and apologised for the delay. Staff pleasant and professional without being pushy.

Good food, side bread could have been warm (was cold), but cheerful waitress and waiter made up for it. Food very tasty and nicely presented.

As always, fantastic food, ambience and great service! The best restaurant in Hull bar none! Recommend the fillet steak and the chunky chips are the best!

Service was pretty sloppy, albeit well-intended. Clearly struggling on a busy saturday evening. But the food was decent (although slightly too expensive). May be the best in hull, but could do with some improvement.

A delightful place to have lunch, both for the food and ambience. I like a certain table and they always do their best to accommodate my request. Never 'run of the mill' food but always very inventive and delicious. My favourite place in the area.

Great food and atmosphere. Twice the price of anywhere else in Hull, but was it twice the quality? Not sure, but it was still excellent and nice for a special occasion.

This is not my first visit to 1884 so I knew I was going to have a good experience. As always the greatest attention is made by all members of staff to the diners and I love the fact they explain to you exactly what it is you are eating and what ingredients are used. The environment is better than ever with dining now in the bar which I enjoyed more than in the main restaurant as it felt more relaxed. This is one of the best eating establishments in the city.

I expected the food to be better - the service was ok but one of the waitresses never smiled once during our two hour stay - I prefer the Tapas bar!!! after visiting a 1 star Michelin in Jersey this year hoped this place might come somewhere close (based on the prices you charge) but not to be - I probably would not visit again but as stated love the Tapas and wine bar

Food, service and location- all excellent. The food was delicious: full of flavours with surprising touches; the service was courteous at all times and the surroundings impressive. We thought we had a top quality experience for a very reasonable price. We will certainly return.

Mostly great food and friendly service but a bit slow. Puddings weren't as creative as the main courses or as good as they used to be, and they've stopped offering chocolates / macaroons with coffee (almost our favourite part of dining there!) Will definitely go again but might skip pudding in favour of their cheese board.

This was out third visit to Dock Street.. this time we took our parents for a special thank you meal. We were absolutely blown away with the food, the service, the setting. Lunchtime and what a treat. The food looked so good you just had to photograph it. I'm gluten free and everything from the food to the gluten free beer was yummy. Best Restaurant in Hull by a country mile.

Dessert was delicious and the fish pie was tasty but felt that the proportion of vegetables for three people was a little mean. Service was ok and the view to the marina great.

I expected more frokm the food, which was good but not as good as I expected. Somewhat impersonal service. Not sure it was worth the highish prices. Would however try again if I came to Hull in the future.

Inventive dishes, beautifully cooked, presented & served. Plus excellent wine list with many available by the glass. By no means cheap but worth every penny.

We found the food bland. It really lacked flavour. The waitresses were inattentive and it was difficult to get their attention. We had to walk out to the front of the restaurant to pay the bill. The cost of the meal was £110 including a bottle of wine. Cheese board was the best part of the meal. Noisy atmosphere, well designed room setting. All together, over priced mediocrity!

A great restaurant. Very good quality food. Great service. The marina in Hull is beautiful so a great place for the restaurant. 1881 aims for quality and prestige and achieves that. We had the lobster and steak both dishes were excellent. A great dining experience.
