A perfect meal, delicious, balanced, imaginative and exquisitely judged flavours. They've always been good but they are constantly getting better. Surely one of the best places to eat in north london!

Always excellent service and never fails to produce a wonderful eating experience. Their menu is genuine Italian dishes, cooked to perfection. This is a gem.

Great food, comfortable atmosphere, a real treat and local gem of a restaurant. Really enjoyed both times I've visited and looking forward to more meals here!

Great service with a very friendly waiter. We had a starter and main, both of which were delicious. The focaccia with olive paste given at the start of the meal was scrumptious

Food was fantastic (I personally recommend the gnocchi but must admit all dishes were great), staff were so friendly and seriously great tiramisu, amazing little gem at top of Holloway Road!

The best restaurant in the are by far. Food never fails to impress and the service is warm and friendly. It's always our first choice for a night out in Upper Holloway.

Really great authentic Italian food and friendly service. Bit of a surprise to find it at this part of Holloway Road. Well worth the trip to Archway

Small restaurant easy to miss, but well worth finding. It was recommended to me and 3 of us ate there last night. Some of the nicest food I have eaten for a long time, starters, mains to dessert, all amazing. We will be going again!!

It was a bit disappointing, the pasta was too al dente and stick together. Good gnocchi but a bit too much of one taste. Nice ambience

The high level of noise made it impossible to enjoy our evening. Food good (though not up to Trullo or Sardo) , but won't go again.

I enjoyed rack of lamb, cooked as instructed ('pink') followed by a Copa 500 dessert, being peaches with ice-cream covered in chocolate sauce. I had a Campari with orange juice as an aperitif and a glass of the house red wine with my food. Service, as always, was polite and effective. Overall, a very pleasant experience overshadowed somewhat by an unrelated but very serious health problem affecting my partner's mother which meant that I dined alone.

Great food and great service - a really lovely evening. Our food was delicious - imaginatively prepared and presented - everything tasted as good as it looked - a special place to return to as often as possible. An exceptional restaurant that never fails to delight.

Perfectly cooked Italian food. Swift friendly service. Interesting wine list. The signature rabbit dish has changed from a stew to boned and stuffed and is brilliant!

We dined with four friends at 500, and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food is definitely a cut above most Neighbourhood London Italian restaurants, and the ambiance is pleasant. There is ample parking nearby. The wine list too is excellent, and not overpriced. For such impressive cooking this restaurant is extremely good value. It is a welcome innovation to offer half portions of starters. This makes it possible to have a varied meal without eating more than you really want. or need.

As always, everything was good, from the starters to the pasta - this is an excellent Italian restaurant with a menu that varies seasonally; it's always difficult to decide what to order since everything sounds tasty!

Sometimes reviews don't live up to the hype. In this case, the reviews were spot on. The staff were very friendly, accommodating and the food was amazing. I will be back :)

Superb 500 platter to start with swordfish and gnocchi to die for, followed by tiramisu and washed down with Pinot Gis Blush Rose. What more could one want? Oh and a celeb radio DJ sat next to us... Archway's gem.

Well priced local Italian. Varied seasonal menu, competently executed - more Boca di Lupo than Jamie's Italian. Good Italian wine list, interesting bottles at the low twenty something mark. Service is attentive but not intrusive. I'll be going again soon.

I have been here before and loved it each time but it was a first for my partner. We went to celebrate his birthday and celebrate it we did. Once again excellent food, wine and, particularly, friendly, knowledgeable and considerate service. Winner with more than Time Out - we will go again. 500 is very small and very busy (deservedly so) - so if you want to give it a try, it is best to book in advance.

We visited very early on a Saturday evening, and only wanted a fairly light dinner. The service was excellent, as was the food. My only problem was that my lemon sole dish could have fed two, and I couldn't eat all of it. I have been to 500 several times, and it is one of my favourites. I recommend the sharing (for two) platter for a starter.

The food was very good but the acoustics allowed a very shrill diner to intrude on.our comfort. Still we will definitely go there again because of the food and friendly service.

Great meal, excellent food and service. Would have been even better if it was a bit busier. Quality of all food was so much better than any meal we had in Rome the previous week. Cannot wait to go back.

Always good with freshly cooked food. I noticed change of staff and also not so busy - maybe because it was a very hot evening but lovely and cool in there. Good food and wine and our guests enjoyed it immensely.

As always, a delightful experience. So nice to have a good local restaurant with a chef who likes to try out new dishes and then cares what his customers think about them. For example, he's added a lovely Fritto Misto of fish and shredded courgette to the starters. A real gem of a dish. When he came round at the end of dinner to see how people had liked their meals, he said that he'd originally had it as a main but people weren't interested. So he turned it into a starter and it was proving hugely popular. In the meantime, a starter I had previously reported as not nice at all (the waiter said I wasn't the only one) has disappeared. That's the kind of flexibility and originality that make 500 such a great restaurant. Plus they buy really good ingredients. One of my guests pronounced the beef some of the best he'd ever had.

Service was shocking, never experienced such bad service ever. The waiter was belligerent and rude and didnt make any allowances for his behaviour and started shouting unnecessarily. We had to send food back and the replacement dishes were not up to scratch either. i used to eat here regularly, 3 times in the past 7 weeks, but never again. They lost a loyal customer and didnt even seem to care. The food used to be great but their standards have fallen and now with so many other places opening up on Holloway they need to do better. instead check out other italian locals such as Zia Lucia or Piccolo Sogno, I will be spending my money there instead of wasting it here.

Top quality Italian and has been for years. An unprepossessing spot, but well worth the effort. Home made pasta, daily specials with a Sardinian slant and good staff.

Excellent again. Menu is small but good. Starters in particular (we had crab, prosciutto, and mozzarella) highly recommended. Ladies had lemon sole which I'm told was excellent; I had a veal special which was also great.

We love this restaurant and go there fairly frequently. The staff are wonderful but the food can vary a bit and this time wasn't the best we've had. For the first time in my life, I sent a starter back. It wasn't that I didn't like it, it was actually inedible (others in the party agreed). The waiter acknowledged it wasn't to everyone's taste and that others had disliked it so I wonder why they keep it - raw scallops marinated in campari and orange. I had expected something vaguely ceviche-like but the the campari and orange gave the scallops a really awful bitter taste. They were incredibly nice about it, produced an alternative (delicious) immediately (didn't charge for the rejected scallops) and the rest of the meal was very pleasant. Not amazing - as it has been on previous occasions but nice enough. I'd still recommend 500 as it's great value and a lovely atmosphere. It would be nice to be 100% sure of the food though.

Having just read about this restaurant in Quandoo last night, I decided to try it out this evening. It's a great little Italian restaurant serving excellent quality food and wine with quite a different menu to the usual. The seafood stew, on a plate, was a great combination of seafood, cooked perfectly, and other great flavours, although there was just a little too much garlic for my taste. It's the sort of dish that you want another one of straight away. Wines were varied and good value for small glasses and bottles - a nice change. Try the plate of Italian cheeses - lovely quality served at a good temperature. Great all round with very friendly people and I'd go back there tomorrow.

This is a fab restaurant where food is treated very well indeed. Delicious ragu, heavenly starters (you have to have the Tagliere 500 - you get a glimpse of most of the starters!) and awfully good value. Our favourite.
