The food is good and reasonably priced, certainly the best gastropub in the area. The wines and beers are also very good, we like the South African Chenen Blanc. Service is also excellent. The only issue I had was with the speed of delivery of food into the restaurant. Being on the ball, I spotted the tables of 8 and 2x4 coming in right behind us and got our order in first. We were served relatively quickly but they had to wait ages for their food. The trouble is that a very similar menu is being served at the bar and we could see the food bypassing people in the restaurant.

Very historic venue, great quality food and service. We had never been to Ponteland before, but now we know there is a quality pub/restaurant right near the airport, we will go again..

Enjoyed a gorgeous meal which was beautifully presented. Both the starter and main were second to none. Great portion size and all fresh produce. The food was very prompt. The staff friendy and efficiant. Very comfortable surroundings with seating both inside and out. Well recommend The Blackbird.

Very friendly and attentive staff, made you feel welcome. There was four of dining and each of us ended up having a different starter and main course, every one really enjoyed their meals. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it or to return again soon.

Food was of a high standard and table service was excellent. Surroundings were unmatched and one could almost feel the history of the building from castle to Manor House to Inn.

Great restaurant for casual dining but there was nothing casual about the food, it was really lovely. Friendly service and good atmosphere. Although it was busy, parking was good. Highly recommended.

Excellent service and a well presented pub and restaurant. Fillet steak was unfortunately not fully relaxed and therefore tougher than it should have been. Very generous cheese board and affordable wine -

Prompt and friendly service. However, the fish goujons were not hot, and the chips weren't either. I would suggest that you dispense with the elaborate presentation and go back to a traditional warmed plate. The re-heated fish was returned quickly but it was rather embarrassing, as this was my treat, and it was my guest's food. The lamb was good but the cooked pak choi was impossible to cut with a knife, so it remained a pretty garnish! A lovely space, easy parking, well run - just needs a few tweaks to the food.

On a Friday night, the bar area was extremely busy, providing a lively atmosphere. The pump room was a great room to eat in with lots of character. Staff were very good; but it's the food that would bring us back again. A good selection including some standard pub fare featured alongside more exciting options, both the lamb and duck dishes were simply fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Everything was very well presented and to top it all off, the sticky toffee pudding (of which I've sampled a few) was possibly the best I can recall ever having, it certainly had the thickest sauce! All in all an excellent meal in a wonderful place, I thoroughly recommend giving the Blackbird a try!

We ate in the bar and there was a lovely friendly atmosphere, The food was good and exactly what we were after for a relaxed lunch on a Saturday. I had a prawn sandwich and large chips which were very tasty. My fellow companions had burgers and enjoyed every mouthful. We will be back!

Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere the only complaint was the lovely waitress was serving the whole restaurant on her own so there was often a long wait for drinks, ordering and food but that wasn't her fault.

Lovely food and surroundings, but there was a long wait for the mains; in fact our starters were brought out twice. That said, we would come back... and the gin menu is fabulous 😊

Took one hour for the fish cakes to arrive. They were cold when thry arrived. Not good. Ordered a g and t it arrived with all the tonic poured into it. Hoping for slices of ginger too given it was the ginger based gin instead got a lump of ginger. Which looked like a clove of garlic. Very odd. Not the experience I was hoping for given we were celebrating some milestone birthdays. Will not be recommending or coming back. Calves lovers were good though...
