excellent food, excellent service, this restaurant never ceases to maintain the level of to which we have become used , Its one of the few places that, having praised it highly, you can take a friends or business people knowing you won't have egg on your face, ( yes I know they don't serve eggs ) . The only problem is that they then become regular customers making it harder to get a booking.

The atmosphere was excellent. The welcome was warm. The food was good even if as a non meat eater ( nor shell fish) there was not as much choice for me as my friends, but the portions were large. Overall a lovely evening out and we will go there again.

Accident in the kitchen meant that our main course was forgotten (when we went to enquire where it was we were asked if we wanted the bill!). However manager very apologetic, didn't charge for the drinks and starters we had had, and gave us a voucher for a free meal in the future. We have used the restaurant a number of times before and have always had a lovely meal.

Brilliant food, excellent service. The only downside is the Parking.....otherwise superb restaurant that hasn't changed in decor or ambience for years and years ! A real little piece of France in East Barnet...unpretentious and French !

We had a very pleasant evening at Chez Tonton. Food was excellent. Service good. If I were to be negative about anything, it would only be that it took a little while to manage to get the bill and pay at the end our visit, but this was a very minor problem and did not in any way detract from our overall experience.

Attentive staff, tasty fondue with bread and potatoes. Would have given full marks had there been some crudités. Also potatoes had a pre cooked taste which I'm not keen on. The proprietor kept checking the fondue, the included wine was delicious. We'll return!

A lovely meal in a lovely atmosphere. We don't go there often as it is a long journey but when we do it's really special so we make the effort for special occasions.

Excellent throughout, service, atmosphere, staff and especially the food. Le beuf bourguignon was delicious, the crème brûlée the best I had this side of the Channel. Would definitely go again

A lovely evening, good food and pleasant staff. A favourite place of ours. Lovely fish and black forest gateau. Parking can be tricky, but shouldn't deter!

Perfectly adequate. Reasonably well cooked main items. Heavy handed with the flavours, not especially well balanced and sauces tending to overwhelm the main items. e.g. sauce for the duck breast too sharp to be able to taste the duck, that sort of thing.

A very enjoyable meal as always. All four of us had the most delicious onion soup to start followed by three magret of duck breast and one lamb. We were seated upstairs which became rather noisy with a party of 10 at an adjacent table, but when requested, we went downstairs for desert and coffee. Perhaps we're just getting old!!

We were looking forward to our evening, having visited the restaurant previously and enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, we found the food and wine unexceptional and overpriced. We would not return or recommend.
