Good food. Good service. The 3 courses for £20 makes it fantastic value. Have been a customer for a few years. The food never disappoints.

Have not been to Chez Tonton for 20 years. Had a lovely evening. The owner was ever welcoming and the waiters were delightful. Food very french but enjoyable. I particularly liked the atmosphere, very welcoming, no pressure to order and most importantly no hurrying us out of the restaurant once the meal had been finished. I will be returning and it wont be in 20 years time!

Excellent, long-established, local, French restaurant. Good set of proper French aperitifs, usually so overlooked, such as a Kir. Couldn't fault the fondue, prawns or the rabbit. A very exuberant owner adds to the friendly and enjoyable experience.

The restaurant was freezing when we arrived. Its just affected our enjoyment of the whole meal. We were offered garlic bread when we sat down not realising that it was charged. It was a standard garlic bread baguette that you would purchase and then it was like sautéed in garlic butter. It was served on a dish cut up like croutons. I had the sirloin steak which was cooked ok, it had a massive piece of uncooked fat running through it but the sauce was lovely as was the accompanying vegetable. My partner had the lamb and it was a mixture of well done (which was tough) and tender. we know this restaurant has a well received fan base and this was out first visit. Did not like the garlic bread at the beginning and especially as it was not mentioned that it was charged for. You do pay a cover charge of 65p each which covers you for four tiny pieces of baguette and butter. We would be prepared to visit again but the freezing cold really affected our enjoyment but we are prepared to give it another go

Beautiful menu, friendly staff and an excellent 3 courses. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening - and a free ladies main course as well :-) what’s not to like?

Great family run restaurant, excellent menu with daily specials, first class service and even when very busy the owner always finds time for a chat, reasonably priced given the quality of the food. Chez Tonton never disappoints, far better than all the overpriced pretentious restaurants in the Barnet whetstone area.

Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Special monthly Thursday offer of ladies having a free main course was an extra bonus. A wonderful slice of real France in East Barnet!

Wonderful food and the house wine was excellent. We were very well looked after by the staff who even organised us a cab home. Whilst this is a little off the beaten track, it is well worth a visit. They accept Tastecard which make it all the more affordable. Will definitely be back.

Took friends last night that had never been before but had wanted to go for a long time. Having been many times over the years, I knew they would be disappointed, and they weren’t! The food was extremely well cooked & presented. Traditional French food served in a modern way. Possibly the decor could do with a revamp and the outside has 3 versions of their phone number that has changed over the years but perhaps that is part of the charm of this little hidden treasure of East/New Barnet!

Another very enjoyable meal at Chez TonTon. Food and service excellent. Used Taste Card which was a bonus. Highly recommended. Only reason for not giving 6 is it's position on a busy-ish road which with the main doors open made it a little noisy but the air was welcome!

We had a fantastic evening at Chez Tonton. It feels like you're in France! Food was delicious and service was very attentive. It was my fiance's birthday and the waiters brought out his dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday!

An authentic French restaurant with the owners having built a good reputation over many years. Food is very French and always get the garlic bread whilst choosing your fare. Service started good but waned later in the evening forgetting my dessert wine. Great little restaurant with some good lunch time and weekday evening offers. Reasonably priced.

My son wanted to treat his Mum to a special Mother's Day meal and everyone at Chez Tonton made it exactly that. This is our go to restaurant for special occasions. In addition to exquisite French dining, there is a wonderful ambiance and for a couple of hour you really feel like you're in France.
