Fourth visit to the Ghurka Cafe over the last three years. Food and service consistently good. Great atmosphere and great location. Advisable to book as the restaurant always seems busy. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent welcome. Busy and great atmosphere. Service slow to start but then good throughout. Menu interesting with wide choice including several fish dishes. Food fresh and tasty. Enjoyable evening.

All 4 of us enjoyed our first time at Ghurka restaurant. We were in Edinburgh for the tattoo . Food was delicious especially the nans and the butter chicken . Just wish we lived a bit closer so we could return more often

My partner and I have been going to the Gurkha for about 4 years now, this trip was my birthday dinner, as always the food was superb, but we have noticed that the service does slip when the restaurant is busy. We even had to ask for the bill three times. One of the main selling points when we first ate here was the service. It was second to none, we just feel a little disappointed when the standard slips, this can't be good for first-time visitors to the restaurant as they will think this is normal which is not the case. We love this restaurant and it is always first choice for our celebration meals and basically any other excuse we can find to eat out.

Excellent food, especially the Bhot Ko Chelu, prepared hot as requested. Still a great choice, though the menu has been reduced for the festival period. Also great service, we have always had an excellent experience here.

The tastiest meal we have had in a long time full of interesting flavours and sensible portion sizes. Will return next time we are in Edinburgh

Attentive staff, loved the Nepal decor and pictures and freshly prepared food right down to the spiced onions - I have never had them made to order, we were asked if we wanted them mild, medium or hot. And when they arrived there was very finely chopped cucumber and carrot and herbs mixed together. It wasn't just onions and spices like normally served in Indian restaurants.

It was great. Tasted like when will lived there. Brought back great memories. Seating was a bit tight, comfortable, big chairs take space... Friendly staff and accommodating. We order out of the menu😉

Amazing food and an excellent service provided to us. I can only recommend Ghurkas either for a quick meal or a formal celebration. Give it a go!

Poppadoms soggy. When we pointed this out they took them away and then brought exactly the same ones back again. Service was a bit slow but the restaurant was busy. Curry nice.

We have visited this restaurant several times. The food and the service had been excellent on each occasion. I would highly recommend the Ghurka Cafe. It's city centre location also makes it ideal for visitors to Edinburgh.

The food and the service were fantastic. My first visit to Ghurka's and I would highly recommend it. My only slightly negative comment would be about the RHS toilet door in the ladies, you had the lift the door slightly to get it to close and even then you couldn't lock the door. Otherwise, a fantastic night and a fantastic restaurant.

Absolutely excellent Indian restaurant. Friendly obliging staff and really tasty food. It was so good, we ate here twice in 3 days. When we return to Edinburgh, the Gurkha Cafe will be top of our list for places to eat.

Lovely food and very friendly and helpful service. A little different from a typical Indian - go for the Nepalese dishes every time! Highly recommended.

Obviously popular as it was very busy upon our arrival and therefore had to wait to be seated. The food was exceptional and worth the wait, even the 45 minutes delay for drinks and water. Would go again, but visit outside of peak times as we had an 7.30pm booking.

The food was great, really good. But the staff put me off! Service was very poor. We booked a table for 7.30; turned up and had to stand around for ages amongst diners trying to enjoy their meals. I just felt the staff weren't bothered about the customers. The food was very expensive too, in fact one of the priciest Indians I've been to. Overall, not worth it!

The korma chicken was tasty, but it was much too hot inside so it was hard to enjoy the food. :( The service was good.

Excellent meal. We chose 2 of the Nepalese curries. One fish and one chicken dish. So tasty!! Staff polite and professional. Will definitely be visiting again. Not a large cafe/restaurant so best to book.

Delicious food at reasonable prices..Staff were helpful and all the amenities were clean .There wasn't much room between the tables where we were sitting ,however I think we were unlucky with that positioning. It would not put us off returning to the Gurkha Restaurant

Food was delicious. But despite making a reservation our table was just in front of the kitchen and service was a bit slow. Would recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh. Make reservation because seating is limited.

Great food, probably the best Nepalese food we have tasted. Each dish was unique and full of flavour. Chef KC also came out to greet us and made a special chicken dish which was out of this world!

Gurkha Cafe was amazing. The staff were ready with a smile. The food was deliciously hot and spicy. I loved the poppadoms with the dips. The cocktails are very strong though.

Nice restaurant - food good and service excellent but we were in a cramped area just by the front door which spoiled things but otherwise cannot complain.

A delightful trek into the Himalayas right in the middle of Edinburgh! It's like getting back to camp: a warm welcome; that comfortable sinking into a seat; and great traditional, tasty food.

Very good indeed The food was excellent, though their medium is my hot, so if in doubt ask them to tone it down a bit. We were a party of four and all the dishes, from a super mild Khorma to a 'medium' Achari lamb showed that little bit of extra attention to spicing that makes good food delicious. Nice atmosphere and good service as well. Will definitely go again.
