Gurkha Cafe & Restaurant

Enjoyed an excellent meal at the Gurkha cafe. My friends and I visited Nepal a few years ago and cone here regularly for good food and to remember our time away.

I am giving the restaurant a 5 only because the food was outstanding. However the service was a 2 at best. The servers were rude and inattentive. We were there on a Sunday and were one of five tables so I expected a higher level of attention and timeliness. Our server never cracked a smile and was rude. I would go back again only because the food was great but certainly not for the service.

Really lovely food. Rich, sumptuous, flavoursome. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice atmosphere. An altogether lovely evening. Will definitely go there again another day, and recommend it too. Thank you.

The food was too spicy, it was very hot inside and service was slow, in overall we were a bit disappointed, the drinks and fish were tasty

Lovely place, authentic atmosphere, wonderful food. Staff made us feel very welcome and we will no doubt return. Price was ok. Very welcoming to the kids as well.

The Gurkha Cafe is my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh, The food is so tasty and flavoursome. The Staff are so welcoming and attentive. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely lovely food. Good atmosphere and great service. Would definitely recommend the Ghurka cafe! You need to book first as there was a queue out the door.

Cosy ambiance with friendly staff and excellent food and good portions. Good value for money too. Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys authentic Asian food.

Our reservation had not been noted but we were seated quickly anyway. The food was great with some more unusual menu items. Service was efficient.

Excellent food, warm and friendly staff, great service. Ghurka Cafe never disappoints. Always reminds me of a wonderful trek in Nepal and the lovely people there.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly. We always find no matter how long it is since we have been they remember who we are which makes for a more personal experience.

Food was pretty good however was let down by slow and what felt like unwelcoming service. This may have been down to it being busy however this is expected on a Saturday night peak time. Unfortunately will not be returning!

Lovely decor, amazing food and great service. Especially the biryani and pineapple/Coco rice were out of this world. Service was prompt and very friendly. Would come again

Welcome was warm and friendly, atmosphere is good, but, best of all, the food was top notch. The menu gives customers plenty oh choice in terms of starters and mains with the staff only too willing to offer advice. Overall, this was a good dining experience. Given that the restaurant was well filled early on a Tuesday evening substantiates that point. We will definitely return. Jim McLean

Very busy, great locasion, really good indian food and an exellent indian Red wine named True soul to that. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Highly recommended 😀

Excellent food. Great service. Good value for money. Beats the normal Indian that we've all been used to. Recommend the lamb shank. Nice spicy starters.

We had an early dinner here last night. The food was delicious. My son had chicken tikka mossala and pilau rice, I had a paneer dish and vegetable rice, we had two of the most delicious naan breads I have ever eaten!

We were reccomended this restaurant by the hotel where we are staying and it was fabulous. The starter in particular was the best Indian starter I've had

We absolutely loved the food. The waiting staff were excellent. Very polite . Thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. I can honestly say I have never had a nicer meal.

Great staff great food in an unhurried environment. Excellent menu options all at reasonable prices, something for every palate. Highly recommend you try this restaurant you won't be dissapointed

1st visit and based on previous reviews, we were not disappointed. Highly recommended for really tasty curry, we were a group of 3, tried each other's dish and agreed it was all excellent

Great food at reasonable prices, the central location makes it easy to get to from train station. Fish dishes are excellent would definitely return again.

Great food - chicken was perfectly cooked and spicy. Excellent service with a smile and generosity of nature. The portions are very plentiful - food ordered for two could have fed three ! Definitely will return.

Great food sand service despite the restaurant being very busy. We always enjoy our visits and recommend all the starters. My wife's favourite is lamb madras.

Been to this restaurant a few times. Cannot fault it in any way. Tried the tandoori fish tonite it was fantastic so tasty. Would recommend it. Staff are very welcoming and polite. Top marks.

Always a hit at the gurkha cafe. Delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. I had a lamb main course with a cheese naan and pilau rice as well as chicken pakora starters.

Great restaurant. Food is fabulous. Best curry had for a long time. Staff were friendly and efficient would definitely recommend to any one visiting Edinburgh to pay this place a visit. I will certainly be returning

The food is fantastic; we had the dashboard lamb and vindaloo chicken. Rice, parantha, naan, roti and chutney. The vindaloo is not on the menu per week, but the chef prepared it for us...be forewarned, it was very hot!

We felt that we made an excellent choice. The food was flavoursome and delicious - Big bold flavours with great service. A gem of a place !
