Food was very good. Service and staff friendly. Good atmosphere
Excellent food and service. We would definitely recommend to friends.
Second visit to The Gurka Cafe, amazing food, very friendly and helpful staff. We were recommended this place and I would have no hesitation about recommending it to others.
Excellent fast and friendly service, highly enjoyable curry. Definitely try the coconut pineapple rice and apricot naan, looking forward to our next visit already so that we can save room for dessert.
Amazing food would come back to Edinburgh just for this place. Great service too would reccomend to anyone , lovely little place and not expensive
Nice enough meal but restaurant looked a little tired. Mushroom bhaji was not the best ever tasted. Staff were friendly and service was good. Good location.
Good selection of dishes from the menu to choose from. The food was delivered hot, well presented and the food was tasty. Good selection of drinks and the ambiance of establishment was ok.
Great food, great staff, went out of their way to accommodate us really made our valentines dinner and we will definitely be back. Would definitely recommend
Fantastic restaurant in heart of Old Town. Amazing food with fantastic choices. Lamb Madras was lovely and spicy but not mouth burning and portions were perfect. Service was superb and as it is fairly small it had a great atmosphere on the Saturday we visited. However, especially if going on a Saturday, I would advise booking as we arrived at 5pm and by 6pm it was almost full. Would definitely recommend.
Wonderful food and service. Will be back for sure with the family and others. Chicken dumplings and spiced onions were fabulous along with the butter chicken
Fabulous meal, great service and ambience. A delightful original restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh. We'll be back, and will highly recommend Gurkha to friends and family. Thank you.
Really great food, service, wine. Altogether a brilliant meal and experience. Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced too. Our first visit but won't be our last.
Good food, friendly staff, comfortable clean surroundings and good value for money, I would definitely eat there again and recommend the place to others. Very good.
Great food highly recommend me and my wife loved the food and staff great and helpful we traveled from Glasgow to go hear we will definitely be going back
Not much from outside but makes up with the food. Another fantastic meal... have tried many restaurants but always come back food so fresh staff very attentive.
Good service. Lovely thick consistency and rwally tasty curries. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I would definitely recommend this place to friends. Good value for money
Great little restaurant. Food is excellent and presented with a bit of flare. Also an excellent range of interesting dishes - try the pangasius fish starter or the Gurkha Special ckicken - both excellent.
Awesome meal, everyone enjoyed everyting we ordered. Can’t recommend enough! Service was fantastic and it’s a great location. Madras was the best I’ve ever had.
Great food, excellent vegetarian options, fast and efficient service. We really enjoyed our meal here and would come back again, no question. At busy times, I definitely recommend booking.
Delicious food, reasonable prices and great service in central Edinburgh. Easy booking system. Friendly staff and cosy surroundings. A wider choice of desserts would help with finishing off the meal, although rarely needed as easy to overfill with excellent choices and very tasty starters and mains. Would recommend the Everest beer,
Please make a reservation for this restaurant. It's worth it. Friendly personel, very good food at a reasonable price. Restaurant van be round in old town.
Had a lovely meal, the food is really good well worth the visit, service really good too, will go again when I next visit Edinburgh
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Café Gurkha. Being traditionally Indian eaters, this was our first taste of Nepal. Service was great - having asked for a pause between main and starter, waiter checked with us to ensure we were ready for our main. Loved my garlicky fish and garlic naan.
Really enjoyed the food, all courses were excellent and the service was also pretty quick. Would recommend trying out this restaurant and will most likely return.
Christmas Day curry. Welcoming staff quick service and good food. Good choice for a set menu and good value for money. Highly recommended and would go back
Always excellent food and service at the Gurkha Cafe, my recent visit was no different.
Lovely food. Pleasant staff and good value. Handy and close to the station. Would definitely go back and would recommend a visit. Thanks for helping a family pre Christmas day outing fantastic
Good food and courteous service. Was very busy but we didn’t wait long for order to be taken or food to be served. Would recommend
Have been visiting The Gurkha Cafe for several years, on and off and can honestly state that the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff never changes. The food is beautifully prepared and presented and I wholeheartedly recommend for couples or groups who wish to enjoy Nepalese food or indeed just platefuls of fabulousness!!
Fantastic delicious food, the best Asian dishes I have eaten in a long time, friendly attentive staff and good service - need I say more
The food was excellent! We love Indian and Nepalese food, and we have a favourite restraint back home but this place easily compares to it! The food was exceptional in every way, they cater for vegetarians and vegans with a wide range of choices on their menu, which we can’t find many places! The staff were polite and efficient in their jobs, and they even sang happy birthday when being deserts out for my girlfriend! We had a fantastic time at the Gurkha Cafe and if were in Edinburgh again, it’s the first place I’m coming back to to eat at!
Great food, very tasty and service was friendly. Staff were very accommodating when we turned up early. Only slight issue was the table was a bit cramped.
Lovely meal. Very attentive staff. Took advice from waiter regarding Nepalese dishes off menu, which were all amazing. Will definitely visit again when in Edinburgh
Food was scrumptious! Fish Tikka melted in your mouth. One of the best Saag Paneers I've ever had. We will be back!Make sure to get reservations, they were turning people away at the door.
VERY friendly welcome. The food arrived in good time and was all very tasteful. Would this is our second time here and will be back on our next visit to Edinburgh.
You are always guaranteed a friendly welcome, fantastic food and great service. Ghurka Café is our favourite place to eat in Edinburgh, can't wait to go back.
Excellent Nepalese restaurant- great service and superb food. We always go here when Edinburgh after a Scotland rugby game. Will be back again next year for six nations
Impressed at how well presented the food was, expecially the starters. Enjoyed the momo and potato cakes and curry was really nice - cheese roti especially good. Big portions - we shared a naan and rice and still struggled to finish. Nice service, even on a busy rugby night - happy to recommend.
Food was amazing, Rose wine not so good but the quality of food absolutely excellent. I had Butter Chicken, full of flavour and the Naans are very big and tasty.
Fabulous food. Just disappointed that £10 was automatically assumed we would pay extra as a tip, this would have been a 20% tip!I am used to inputting what I want to pay,not what I'm told to. The tip was removed but I don't think this is good practise, fab food or not. Some people might have missed this and paid.
