Sunday lunch , booked for midday for six. The waiter was very attentive and friendly and made us some lovely cocktails. The food was really very good as it always is when we visit. The only down side was the time we waited for each course. We thought booking at 12 would see us out by 2pm but, in fact, we had to ask where our desserts were at 2.40. We got out around 3pm. I understand they were short staffed but the restaurant was full, the busiest I have seen it . Two waiters/bar staff for around 60 covers and two chefs. It wont't make me not go again but I just hope they get their recruitment sorted out.

No wonder it’s closing down. Just far too expensive for food it provides. Setting though is amazing. Pity they haven’t been able to make the most of it

My steak was very gristly and fatty and we had to wait almost an hour for our food to arrive. The service was also very slow. We won't be going back there again.

Great food in a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. Will be back for sure and recommend too!

Had a fabulous meal at Plates for our friends Birthday. Food absolutely gorgeous and the staff were an absolute delight. Cannot rate these guys enough.

Could not be faulted. Meal, service and ambience were excellent.

Unfortunately, service is on the slow side and, on this occasion the beer was not chilled. There was also a mix up with the order. However, the food was good and the cost of the beer was refunded. This has not put off a repeat visit at some time!

Food was lovely and the service was great, we would definitely go back again.

I have been to Plates several times before and enjoyed the experience however last night's visit was dreadful. We waited for an hour for the main course only to see others being served around us. Once we were served after prompting the fish was minute and chips under cooked.

Very enjoyable, like the restaurant. Food very good, service a bit too slow but did not spoil the evening.

Wonderful freshly cooked food, very friendly and humorous waiter, was given a groupon voucher as a gift and would recommend the place .

It was our anniversary treat and the dinner was absolutely beautiful, everything about the place was superb from start to finish, special thanks to the chef the meal was soooooooooo tasty. Thank you

Wonderful staff, nice greeting. I will say not the most imaginative menu but the food was piping hot, very tasty and plenty. Service was excellent and we would highly recommend. We are going again for their steak menu and we can’t wait. A very good all round experience.

Friendly, good service, one slight downside was variations to menu description,which meant I got lettuce salad with two courses, not radish for one and rocket for the other. Otherwise lovely food.

Overall it was a pleasant evening, the only downside was the time in between courses and sporadic arrival of mains, the staff were really friendly and very accommodating despite this.
