Beautiful setting, good food a lovely evening. Would definitely recommend to friends. Also have heard that the Sunday roast is very good, so will have to try it out.

We have eaten here a few times previously but last night was the best Steak meal that we have had in a long time. Lovely staff and great surroundings... hats off to the chef. We will be back soon! Thank you Plates & co.

We have been to this restaurant many times, usually with table pouncer and have always enjoyed it. But unfortunately this time it wasn’t such an good experience. We had the steak offer which was a 10oz rump steak for £12. My husband had problems with his and it was immediately replaced. Mine also was a little tough so I didn’t eat it all. Service was very friendly but slow and could have been a little more professional. The starters and deserts were delicious but at around £7 perhaps overpriced. But it was the price of the drinks that were disappointing. A large glass of wine for £9.95 and a small for £7.75? These were London prices, which doesn’t suit this area!

Excellent Food, balanced choices for all courses, flavour combinations first class. Ambience very good. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive. What more could you ask for?

Everything was first class. Had the fillet steak which was excellent. Would have given a 5 out of 5, but the chips were not to my liking (the inners were semi raw). This was surprising as I would have thought it would have been easy to cook a chip when you can do so well with the meat. Would certainly go back (perhaps choosing the salad next time).

This is my second visit to Plates & Co and I still love the setting. High ceilings and pulpits give real character. The food is generally good if pretty pricey, and service was a little patchy (a couple of requests were misinterpreted). A final problem with puddings was resolved with a discount which was appreciated. I would go back as the food is nice but would have to save up for a while first.

The food was good but they sat us upstairs. Unfortunately up there you become overlooked and can’t gain staff attention. The staff were very nice but you just couldn’t get their attention up there .

Lovely food let down by poor service. Restaurant was cold so diners were needing to wear their coats. I would dine there again but perhaps in the summer.

Excellent choices on menu ,different food and very tasty. Both my dishes the hock terraine with tasty chutney was good and the shhepherds pie with smooth pipped potato well seasoned. The panacotta was ok but missed having the berries which were served last time. My ccmpanion really enjoyed the pieapple dessert with white chocolate covered icecream. We had a good lunch with good portions set in a very attractively decorated dining room with volted ceiling.

A great steak was had by both of us, cooked to perfection with wonderful tasty sauce and delicious accompaniments of French fries and tomato on the vine. Great value for money but unfortunately no room for any of the tempting deserts!

The food was delicious, service was excellent and I would have rated this higher apart from the wine. If you are only going to offer 5 white wines then firstly why make 2 of the 5 both Sauvignon Blanc ? We ordered the Chablis and it was not properly chilled. There was no ice bucket big enough that could chill the wine properly only those thin steel tubes that keep it chilled once it’s is cold already. We had to use ice cubes to chill it and thereby dilute it - poor. Only other minor point was that the chandeliers are filthy and need cleaning/dusting. There are sprays you can buy for this! However we had a lovely meal and thanks go to the staff who kept the restaurant running in the snow when nearly everywhere else was closed due to the weather! We will definitely go back.

Lovely restaurant and ambiance, had been a church so very interesting building. The menu and food were great, we were a party of 4 and all enjoyed our choices. The service is friendly and good but it’s not great - seems to lack that last bit of attention to make it excellent.

I was totally unprepared for the stunning interior of this restaurant. It is so unusual and has a very sophisticated atmosphere. We had the 3 course dinner and thought it was superb. Couldn’t fault a single mouthful. It was so memorable thanks to the skills of the chef and the beautiful surroundings.

We booked a lunchtime meal for two. The restaurant, on the first floor of a converted church, was charmingly atmospheric, although the stairs would probably be challenging for the elderly or disabled. In fairness however, there is a bell at the foot of the stairs to summon assistance. The meal itself was generous, by modern standards at least, well presented, delicious and good value ( with the use of a Groupon token). The staff were polite and attentive and the wait for the first course was not excessive compared to some local establishments that I have visited. Altogether a pleasant experience which we shall certainly repeat.

An excellent evening with good food at a reasonable price and good ambience provided by the unique surroundings of a converted church. My only negative comment would be about the coffee .. filtered instead of from an espresso machine.

Great food and service but not 100% happy. Phoned up to query about half price offers was told offers on two course £25 and three course £29 as on website. On the day been told offers on menu 1 which have 2 course or 3 course. So not all of us had 3 course but still got charge for 3 for the half price deal. When query it been told half price deal only for 3 course. So we feel like being cheated.

Pleasant atmosphere, the service was good and the food of a good quality. The Salmon and Hake fish cake was very tasty, however the lack of vegetables not supplied with this dish was disappointing. The Tonka bean desert was tops. All in all a very pleasant outing.

It was a great night. lots of sweet and savoury tastes with each course, giving your mouth an amazing experience. The duck starter was wonderful. We all had beef with black treacle with vegetables who would have put that combination together and think it would work. It was a delight. Our desert was Baked Alaska, it was so yummy, finishing off a brilliant evening Thank you

Well make sure you check your bill every time I have been they have over charged me today by 18 pound. Then when this was corrected given the wrong change. Felt very rushed between courses and the staff need to be aware of what's in the dishes as nearly given a dish not suitable for vegetarians due to the staff member telling me this was suitable. Very disappointed

Beautiful setting inside the converted church, with wooden fixtures and stunning stained glass windows. It was a cold day outside, and lunchtime, but was surprised that inside wasn't very warm to begin with either. However it did warm up. Staff and service were excellent, and the food was very tasty and well presented. Very happy that the plates were hot when food arrived. Tables were a little bare, but the glasses and cutlery were pristine. I would say that the menu was a bit limited (Menu 1) My friend is vegan and enjoyed her choice very much. I had the smoked haddock and salmon fishcake, which was mostly potato - but the overall standard of food was very good. Would definitely return, but try something else next time.
