Great service. Games available to keep the children amused, relaxed atmosphere yet fantastic quality food and a reasonable price. Good choice on menus with special boards too. Will definitely visit again

It’s a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. The food was cold when it arrived which was disappointing. Hopefully it was just a one-off overall we had a nice time

Sunday was a very busy day to try the Ruddington arms for the first time. Our first impression was that they had squeezed as many people possible into the limited space. We were lucky to get a corner table but it was still very noisey possibly due no curtains or carpets to deaden the sounds of a full restaurant of couples and family groups. I struggled to get the attention of the waiting staff to place our order. They were extremely busy. I had pork rib which was very nice my partner had duck which was a very small leg and thigh joint and very overdone and dry. It was as if all the juices had been cooked out of it and and then placed on a pool of fat. We like crunchy vegetables but the accompanying kale was raw. As I said to the manager when asked “How was your meal “. Mine was fine but my partners was very disappointing. I don’t think we will be returning.

Regular customers who visited today for my mums birthday. Food was great as always but service disappointing. 1 hour 45 minutes for one course. The mains were served promptly however we waited 45 minutes for the plates to be cleared, and then had to ask to see the dessert menu but then nobody came back to take our order so we eventually gave up waiting and went up to the bar to pay our bill instead. We weren’t asked by the person taking our money whether we enjoyed the meal & were initially given the wrong bill

Have had lovely meals here previously but unfortunately not the case this Sunday. Slow and sloppy service and just not made to feel welcome. Food was good. Perhaps just an off day.

We chose the Ruddington Arms on recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Had a lovely anniversary dinner, the food was excellent and the staff were wonderful.

Excellent service and food well cooked and presented. We all had forerib of beef which was a little too fatty for our liking but I guess that is how it comes. Well worth a visit.

Visited on recommendation of a friend and colleague. Service slow, barman very slow and tried to charge two different prices for two identical rounds of drinks. One pint and one half of the house bitter. Could be a great venue, food roast beef not good, needs to up its game I am afraid.

Our family birthday meal was perfection. The staff are welcoming, friendly and attentive, checking that you are happy throughout the meal but without being intrusive. The menu posed problems because it really was difficult to choose from so many terrific options. The twice baked stilton and spinach souffle, with a fresh salad was a delicious, light starter. Other family members chose the scallops, which were perfectly cooked and super fresh. The main courses of Portobello and haloumi cheese burger, steak and kidney puddings and halibut were just fabulous. The most impressive thing about this fine dining pub is the attention to flavour balance; seasoning is spot on, the ingredients are always the finest quality, the chefs use combinations which work. We stayed at Angela Barnett's Lime Wood hotel in the New Forest at the New Year and I can honestly say that we both agreed that the food at the Ruddington Arms is superior. It is splendid.

Food & service were as always sublime. Can thoroughly recommend the smoked haddock with mashed potato & leeks, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Can wait to visit again in 2 weeks time. No wonder they won the Best Gastro Pub award!

Excellent food and atmosphere. Service a little slow at taking orders .This should be improved as there appears to be enough waiters. But overall would highly recommend.

The food was really good - we had the bread for a starter - it was lovely just a little to much. The service was great - one minor thing - there was no body around when we left. Will be back.

Quick service despite a crowded lunch time. Excellent presentation of the pheasant lunch which was delicious. Waiters very happy to wrap meat we had not eaten and to facilitate a shared dessert.

First visit - great food, everything done just that bit better than other places. Brilliant baked Camembert starter, lovely mains from the grill. Staff helpful, friendly, attentive but not intrusive; dining area tasteful, welcoming. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely return.

I've eaten at the Ruddington Arms several times now, and it never disappoints. I had pheasant today - I've only had it once before, a long time ago, so I didn't really know what it would be like. I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it for anyone wanting a really tasty meal without felling over full at the end.

Nice cosy atmosphere in the bar. The a la carte menu has a good choice of food. Disappointed one starter on the menu online wasn’t available on the menu at the restaurant. Good price points, but feel the staff could be more friendlier!

Great food, varied wine list, and friendly service, with quiet and relaxing atmosphere - only problem was, we were cold; poor heating in that corner of the room. My wife had to eat with her coat on. Restaurant was busy, so there were no other tables that we could move to. Otherwise - great meal.

Food excellent as always, shame about the rude and tired waitress. I love this local pub whose staff are normally so friendly, it was a shame to have experienced this poor service on this occassion, especially as I took family visiting from Canada.

As usual the atmosphere was very good, especially with it being Christmas Eve. The food came within a reasonable time and it was 1st class as usual. The service provided by the waitresses could not be faulted either.

We had a lovely family (7) Boxing Day lunch. Because 3 family members were travelling from Sheffield and were running a little late we were told that was not a problem. The set 3 course meal offered a good choice for all of us (including the 5 vegetarians)! The food was lovely and we were looked after very well by all the staff.

We had the Chateau Briand and it was absolutely fabulous. Tom, the Manager, was very attentive throughout the afternoon and made us feel very welcome. Only gripe was we had to ask for table to be cleared of sharing boards to make room for the large plates of Chateau Briand, but this doesn’t take away the overall quality of this place.

Very good food and the waiting staff were pleasant. Pity the kitchen appeared to be very stretched so we had long waits for our starters and main courses.
