A really very nice tapas place hidden in the Tollcross area. Customer were mostly Spanish natives, which speaks in itself about the quality of the food. Reservations are highly recommended as the place is a bit small.
Good food, great service. Excellent experience all round. Always have a good night when we go to El Quijote. Good choice of wine and sherry, and reasonably priced. Looking forward to next time
I found the portions very small for the price we paid. The service was very slow. Admittedly, we were in a bit of a rush, but it took us a very long time to get the attention of our waitress. The quality was fine, but, especially with hams and cheeses, I would have expected bigger portions.
Brilliant ! ... the Spanish Tapas we had was excellent, plenty of variety and there's a good choice of Wine too. There was five in our party, and the service was impeccable and very warm and welcoming. We shall return !
As always wonderful food and friendly staff. Tried the cod tonight it was amazing. Look forward toy next visit. Hope they have my favourite chocolate liqueur next time.
After the latest Almodovar at the Cameo we had a couple of hours to kill before the reading at the book festival. I remembered El Quijote from previous visits (2 to 3 yrs ago) and was pleased to find that apart from a change in ownership the restaurant was continuing to serve excellent Spanish fare in welcoming, warm and friendly manner. A tabla de quesos y charcutería, followed by adobo de bacalao then a venison stew accompanied by pimentos de Padrón and rounded off with a home made flan all washed down with a good Rioja courtesy of Luis Cañas made for a great experience and made our night, gracias El Quijote.
This is a wonderfully authentic Spanish restaurant, it never disappoints. Atmosphere is relaxed yet busy, staff helpful and informative. I look forward to going back
We had a wonderful meal last night at Quijote. The service was friendly and super helpful when choosing what to have. I especially loved the aubergine wrapped prawns and the patatas bravas. Will definitely come back here when I'm next in Edinburgh.
food was fantastic perfectly cooked, nice restaurant and not rushed, nice and relaxing. Will be definately be going back. Everyone in my party thought the same.
Excellent food and a very laid back, easy atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and informative about the tapas. Good wine choice to complement the food too.
A friendly Bistro type restaurant with authentic Spanish cuisine. Great food not the usual chain type restaurant. Some real gems on the menu. Thoroughly recommended.
Great food and drink, nice wee homely feel to the place as well
Lovely atmosphere, you can linger over your food and all authentic cheeses and meats, cooked in traditional style. The pigs cheeks were delicious. We ordered from the tapas menu but I don't think you could order anything bad!
Really enjoyed the Tapas a great little find. Great wine too. 😃 Our favourite was the pigs cheeks which were absolutely delicious Service attentive and very friendly
Great food, very good wine. Small, intimate venue - brilliant until a very loud and raucous group of diners made it very difficult to hear each other.
Lovely small friendly family restaurant with fantastic food. A large menu selection means no problems finding something to select. Highly recommended for authentic Spanish cuisine.
The service was prompt, friendly the food was delicious and without fault overall but a wee bit pricey although we felt it was worth this.
One of ours fav wee gems in the whole of Edinburgh ......... rustic tapas at its best LOVE Staff so helpful and friendly Best olives according to my wee girl
Nice food and nice surroundings. Attentive service too. Unfortunately we were going to the theatre afterwards so would have been better to have had longer to relax and enjoy ourselves. Would definitely recommend it and will be returning.
Read a couple of reviews about this restaurant which didn't rate the food at all, don't take any notice of them. The place is buzzy and cheerful, it's not fine dining it's genuine Spanish food in relaxed surroundings. The guy that served us worked his socks off but was always smiling and helpful throughout our meal. It's easy to tell they take great pride in the dishes they prepare and the ingredients they use. Try the pigs cheeks, Iberian ham, the cod the strips of beef, all excellent. The patatas bravas are the best I've had anywhere, that includes Spain. It's not a massive menu but what's on it is fantastic, just wish there was a restaurant like this where I live, highly recommended.
Lovely intimate setting, beautiful authentic food with a relaxed atmosphere but attentive staff. Would recommend as the best tapas in Edinburgh and will definitely be back! Super convenient for anyone going to fringe shows at George square too!
Nice authentic Spanish food, good customer service and reasonable price. I`ve been there 3 times and I will go back. If you want authentic Spanish food, you should forget about the chain and visit this small restaurant.
A great wee restaurant! Fantastic food, (love the pork cheeks) and friendly, efficient service. Feels authentic and has a warm, relaxing ambience. We return time and again - try it!
The place was nice & very intimate (being able to seat 20 max) & proprietor/main server very friendly & helpful. However there were some hits & misses in the food. The patatas bravas totally unlike those in Spain & we didn't like them. The venison stew was totally tasteless. The other 2 dishes we had were good though.
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food was beautiful and served so promptly but you could taste just how fresh it was, the waiter was the nicest guy and recommended a wine from his home town which was a lovely personal touch. After our starters and mains we were full but couldn't resist the delicious desserts and we were so glad we did. Thank you for a fabulous evening. We will be back!
Small cosy place excellent food and great service. Can thoroughly recommend! This is tapas at its very best and truly authentic. Will be back very soon!
The restaurant was very busy on our visit and our table wasn't ready when we arrived. Not a problem though, we went to the pub across the street for 20 minutes and then came back to a very attentive host. We were given advice on how many Tapa to select for our group and the helpful staff answered any questions we had about the food. We even managed to practice a bit of Spanish with the staff. The food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We will return.
Lovely little restaurant, with great atmosphere, lovely food and great choice of wines. It's very easy to fall in in love with this charming place, as I have after one visit.
Delicious and interesting as well as traditional food . Helpful and friendly staff. We celebrated a birthday with friends and had a really good time.
The staff were extremely helpful, our starters were excellent, the wine was very good but our mains were not quite to our taste, our fault not the restaurants.
Food in this small restaurant is outstanding. Iberian pork was delicious. Service was excellent and staff very informative. Thank you for a great dining experience
Tasty food and great service but the portion sizes were stingy and the Tapa was overpriced for what you got. £50 is a lot to spend on a table for two.
Excellent food and friendly service. A great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good selection of dishes and the Tapas were all delicious . Would recommend it for a fun evening.
The food was great, service fine. It was a fine line between trying to keep the cost of the meal reasonable and making sure we weren't going to leave hungry, but we'll definitely go back (rare - we are highly critical!)
Really enjoyable evening at El Quijote. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Lovely atmosphere, and I will definitely be going back!
Lovely little restaurant staff friendly food was really nice ,looking forward to my next visite to the the restaurant ,it is an authentic Spanish themed restaurant
This is definitely the best Spniash place that I've been to in Edinburgh. The croquetas, the secreto and the presa iberica dishes were superb. Will go again!
Excellent. Good coffee, amazing tapas, wonderful ingredients. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere. And I recommend trying their Tarta de Santiago, which was absolutely delicious.
Amazing restaurant. Cozy enviroment very well decorated and auntentic spanish food...I am spanish and I felt like at home there. Great food and customer service. I really recomend it. As far the best spanish restaurant in Edinburgh.
An absolutel gem of a find. Cosy, authentic tapas restaurant. Staff were extremely knowledgable and passionate. Delicious food and wine. We will definitely be back.
