Great food and service, this restaurant never disappoints. Our favourites were the mushroom croquettes, calamari and patatas bravas washed down with a delicious Albariño. There was also a great chorizo, potato and fried egg dish, which was awesome.
Excellent food served in a friendly and convivial atmosphere. The night we were in was busy and space was a bit constricted but this did not spoil the experience. The pork is extremely good and the staff, though rushed, were pleasant and helpful. We will definitely go again
It doesn't look much but the food is tremendous. Take a chance and try it. You won't be disappointed authentic Spanish food in an authentic Spanish restaurant.
The staff is really friendly and welcoming. Food is always fresh, well prepared and tastes the same as in Spain! I definitely recommend this place!
Atmosphere was lovely, food was different form typical tapas but lovely however we felt it was very expensive for what it was . Wished we'd had the chat clean skewers they looked amazing!
Delicious, authentic, the seafood is very fresh, excellent wine, welcoming friendly staff and it is very reasonably priced. Centrally located, this little restaurant is an absolute gem.
Excellent experience, great host, ice-cold beer, food is awesome ...will definitely be back, highly recommend this place....really authentic restaurant ...even the music , won't be long before this place is packed out
Brilliant restaurant- amazing authentic tapas and wine, intimate atmosphere and excellent service. A great find! I didn't think I'd be a big fan of croquettes but their mushroom croquettes were to die for!
Brilliant food, service and atmosphere! The menu was small but everything we ordered was delicious. The server was friendly and made some great recommendations which we tried and loved!
What a super wee restaurant! Lovely atmosphere, tasty tapas, attentive friendly staff, delicious Spanish wines, great location - what's not to like! We'll be back!
Nice selection of tapas..well prepared and presented. Everything was very fresh. I liked that you could choose the size of your portions. Wonderful intimate cozy atmosphere. And I loved their selection of background music.
Really easy and quick response.the website works well. When I called the restaurant direct there was no answer so using quandoo made our night out a success!
Hands down my favourite restaurant in Edinburgh. The food is always amazing, the owner is lovely and the atmosphere is brilliant. I can't recommend enough.
Love this place. The menu is a good length, but perhaps somewhat undersells itself. We shared 6 small dishes between 2 of us, each was really lovely. Great bottle of wine to share as well. The service was swift but not rushed, great atmosphere for chatting, good for cosy dates or small groups of friends. We will go back again.
Five of my family went to El Quijote for tapas recently in the early evening. The food, service and ambience were absolutely perfect. We had a wide sample of both tapas and larger plates. Every dish was distinctive, tasty and they arrived at just the right intervals. We all said we will definitely go back again.
The food was delicious. It was well spaced out - not all the dishes arrived at once which is what we wanted. The wine was very good value and the service was great. We will be back.
Food and service was superb. If I had to make one negative comment it would be uncomfortable chairs and a little bit cramped inside but worth it for the wonderful flavours.
Great food friendly service. Tru the pork cheeks best potats bravas I have had. The tapas was srrved at a good pace through the evening.
Nice food, staff and atmosphere. Olives and calamari were real highlights! Bits of the cod were over done but that's my only criticism, everything else was spot on.
A tapas meal before the theatre was made memorable by the friendly and helpful staff, prompt service and imaginative "specials". An excellent bottle of wine, inexpensive and with a very useful "tour" around the wine list with our knowledgeable waiter. Would certainly return.
Visited here pre-theatre. Great service and lovely food with some creative specials available. Also, very good wine choice, all available by the glass. Place was completely full by 7pm.
Excellent Spanish food in intimate surroundings. We had tapas and it was all good - raciones looked excellent as well. Some of the dishes only come as raciones. The wine list is not huge but is exceptional value.
Its a good restaurant, atmosphere is nice and the staff were very friendly. However, I've been to this restaurant a few times and this time I would say that the quality of the food was not as nice as I remember when I originally went. Many things on the menu were deep fried items, which is fine... but I don't think of Spanish food as predominately deep fried food. Also, the quality of the food itself was OK, but lacked some creativity. A salad of vinegary red bell pepper and asparagus (both likely from a jar) was quite disappointing. The quality of fish seemed good... but again it was battered and deep fried. Perhaps this is down to our choice from the menu... but I didn't realise several of the dishes would contain deep fried items. I would say that I left feeling full and that the price was reasonable. However, I also felt rather disappointed with the creativity of the food and how it didn't live up to reflect real Spanish tapas.
Nice food, authentic feel and good service. Location a bit difficult to find but parking nearby quite good. Some original items on the menu. Will definitely return. William
Excellent food, and a lovely atmosphere in a small restaurant. Would recommend the Sangria! I would definitely come back to eat here in the future
This is real tapas with an Andalucian style, and I know this because I used to live in Cádiz. The incredibly friendly staff are from that part of the world as are the meats from the amazing Iberian pigs. One of my favourite dishes is the slow-cooked pork cheek, but for once we went for the presa, cuts from the shoulder area I believe. Amazing flavour. This followed a selection of tapas from jamon and manchego, via squid to pimentos de padron (small green peppers, every tenth one of which is spicy hot, a kind of Spanish roulette). And of course some patatas bravas (wild potatoes) and plenty of bread. Oh, and wine, naturalmente.
Food was perfect and authentic , as a vegetarian I had loads of options to choose from , the patatas bravas were so good ! Great service also and a cracking wine list
This was our third visit and we've always enjoyed the food and the service. However, as our visits have all been fairly recent - Dec-Feb - each time we've found the restaurant to be very cold, especially if you're seated close to the door, which isn't difficult as the dining area is very small. But, we'll certainly return when the weather improves.
Excellent! Good quality of food and service. Definitely I will go back! If you are looking a truly Spanish experience this is the place to be.
Good atmosphere, good service and friendly staff. Main courses were all excellent. Downside was the starter (we ordered the big plate for 4) which was way too small to justify the price - have the "normal starters". Despite this, we would go again
There are loads of options for tapas and they are all tasty, well cooked and come very quickly. The wine choice is varied (most of the wines I'd never heard of). The staff were flamboyantly Spanish which was fabulous.
A gem of a restaurant. Beautiful food, lovely unrushed atmosphere (we were short on time but didn't feel we were having to storm through our tapas which was brought in stages) and super friendly knowledgeable staff. They even offered to make bravas even tho not on menu because my friend had asked if on menu before checking. Top evening....shall be back tine and again.
Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. We were made to feel very welcome. Food was very good and overall had a nice evening
We found this little gem more by chance than anything. We were looking to book a table at Café Andalucia but they were full. We fancied tapas and searched for another similar restaurant and we found El Quijote. The food was outstanding and very reasonably priced. Service was excellent and it felt like an authentic Spanish taberna. I would highly recommend this restaurant - we could do with something similar in Liverpool
I had to cancel my reservation, however they were very understanding about it ...I have eaten here before and highly recommend this restaurant as both the food and service are really very good!
The most authentic tapas restaurant we've found in Edinburgh yet! Great selection of dishes and there is always a daily specials board. Well worth a visit.
The service, food and wine were excellent. We went for a pre-concert meal mid-week so the place was quiet. We will certainly be back soon.
The food at El Quijote is absolutely delicious, the staff is very kind, and the atmosphere is great. The dishes are great for sharing and having a food allergy was no problem. Definitely worth a try!
Authentic Spanish tapas restaurant, food was good, service was good, there was a Spanish family eating there so I see that as a good sign. Will visit again and would recommend it
This is the BEST tapas restaurant I have been to outside Spain BRILLIANT great food & Service good value for money .Would recommend to anyone who likes tapas its a must
