Usually like George's and have been regulars there but recently it's been disappointing and on this occasion it was dire. Very inexperienced waiting staff, tiny portions Very overpriced for the meals that came out of the kitchen. Rack of lamb turned out to be 2 tiny cutlets at £18.95 without veg. Totally spoiled our wedding anniversary celebration. Didn't bother to stay for dessert as it was so bad. Not sure what's going on at George's but it's not what it was. Won't be returning.
Service was excellent the staff we’re extremely helpful and kind. Food was lovely. Atmosphere
Birthday party for our 104 yr old colleague - a regular visitor here. A bit surprised that the manager did not come across to wish him a happy birthday, but the service and the food were good. A better choice of sweets on the lunch menu would be appreciated
Lovely meal and great service from Cameron. Thank you very much.
Excellent food and exceptional service. Such a lovely dining experience with such an excelent vibe and class im abundance. Non pretentious with very friendly and attentine staff who ensure you are completely comfortable. Loved it! Definitely recommend to everyone.
The food was excellent & the service was brilliant. The only problem was the table sat next to us - very loud & rude to the waiter. We gave a bigger tip than normal as the waiter was only young & didn’t deserve the disrespect they gave him.
Both the service and food were poor. We have eaten here several times and this by far was our poorest visit. We had Sunday breakfast with friends and we will not be rushing back. We waited twenty five minutes to get our first drink and we were the first people in the restaurant. All the food was warm rather than hot, a poached egg came without a yolk and the toasted bloomer was a small slice of thin white bread. It all took too long and poor value. Helen
Been here a few times and had a good meal and experience. However recent visit was very disappointing. Service was slow. Starter I ordered of stuffed rooster potato jacket skins consisted of one small potato skin and was more like an amuse bouche than starter. Bottles of coke were very small presumably mixer size. Chorizo salad was off and avocado and bacon salad replacing it felt that it had been put together as last minute replacement and was disappointing. Rack of lamb was very tasty but could have done with just a bit more lamb. There seemed to be a lot of empty tables for a Saturday night and I hope this isn't a reflection of the way this restaurant is going
Amazing food and service on my birthday. Thank you 🙏
My husband and I went to George's and had a delicious meal. The food was outstanding and the service was second to none.
Took 25 minutes to just take our order after being seated! People around us seemed to be getting drinks orders and food orders but we weren’t! It was freezing and the table next to us complained about the air con and we asked 3 times before it was changed. The food came over cooked and slightly cold then at the end on the bill we were over charged. Poor service overall seeing as there was at least 6 members of staff and 5 tables in our room. Wasn’t very confident when we first sat down to see a table was complaining to the manager about service and food quality.
Food & service was great!! Lovely as always. The food was exceptional. We havebeen a few times as we live fairly local.
Food was cold, sent it back only to receive colder food. Waitress said she’d send back again but by this point we were famished. Manager didn’t really seem that bothered. We asked if they would compensate with some deserts which they did in the end after a long negotiation. Disappointing experience. Terrible customer service. Expected more.
My partner and I were returning to George's to celebrate the first place we had dinner together a year ago and we were both looking forward to returning to where it all started for us. Unfortunately, we just seemed to hit one disappointment after another. I have never seen a smaller amount on a starter plate as the Ravioli, likewise my partner's Sea Bass and both of our meals had items substituted with food that wasn't listed on the menu. Service was poor to say the least, which was blamed on the restaurant "being busy". This was made even worse by one of our servers delivering a Cappuccino to my partner with a totally inappropriate "There you go Darlin'" . Combine these things with screeching party who made regular conversation almost redundant. All in all, not a patch on a year ago and not one we would probably repeat.
Two of the party experienced that their starters were starters were tepid. The waitress was informed and the guests requested that it be ensured the main course be served when hot. This was not the case for one of the guests and he returned his meal. Two of the other guests were not served the accompanying vegetable with their main course. This was never rectified. Will not be returning
Lovely efficient friendly staff. Excellent service. Delicious meal. Thank you
food and service was excellent, we would definitely go again.
We had a lovely meal and enjoyed our experience here.
Really disappointing. Requested the vegan menu but the options I wanted weren’t available which was pretty poor considering it was Father’s Day. The mains weren’t cleared away for at least 20 minutes after we had finished. The Yorkshire puddings we’re rock hard, it seemed like the food was on a conveyor belt waiting to come out already cooked and then quickly warmed up just beforehand. They’d forgotten 2 of our deserts, and then forgot to discount the vegan 3 course bill (normally £7 more expensive than the meat Sunday roast 3 course menu!!) so we had to send the bill back. After that the card reader wouldn’t work. Not great overall from beginning to end. I will think we Will be eating elwhere next year.
Lovely food, great atmosphere with live music and excellent service.
The service has improved enormously. The flat white coffee was back to a good standard. All the ingredients were available for the breakfast. We had a really lovely time!
Brought my mum & dad for Father’s Day. Normally we avoid eating out on special event days as service can be slower simply due to demand. We’ve dined here on several occasions but not on a Sunday before so it was lovely to see a choice of roast dinners included on the menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food & thought the staff coped really well considering footfall & a leaking roof!
I’d like you give you some feedback on the meal we’ve just had for Father’s Day. Firstly the table we were given was upstairs even though on the booking I advised we needed a high chair. So we had to carry the pram upstairs, then requested a high chair as the table wasn’t set with one. I asked if we could order food to be told they’d just put a large order through so we might have to wait. Our starters came out quickly but then we had to wait 45 minutes for our mains. Then one of our children’s meals wasn’t put through on the order even though the waitress read the order back to us. I had to share my meal with my daughter as we were all hungry after the 45 minute wait. The kids burger took ten minutes to arrive and we asked to speak to the manager. The manager came over to us and we explained the wait and kids meal was missing. We were told the food took 45 minutes as it was busy downstairs. As a paying customer that isn’t our problem. I said the kids meal came in ten minutes so why did we wait 45 minutes for the mains? To be told the kids meal was a priority?! Shouldn’t all the tables be a priority?? The waitress was very nice and apologetic but the manager wasn’t. Also 2 drinks were added to our bill that weren’t ours, a cappuccino and a cider....but we couldn’t be bothered even bringing it up. We got a 20% discount off the bill but would have preferred to have had a pleasurable meal on Father’s Day.
This was our 2nd visit and our last. Our first visit back in February was perfect in every way. This time the service was slow, 4 of the 6 meals were very small portions and 1 had to be sent back. No veg came with 2 of the meals even though the staff member said they did. The only thing in common with our first visit is that they tried to overcharge us again.
It was a lovely evening and we will be booking again thank you
Great food, great atmosphere. Service a bit slow for drink refills
We booked a table in advance we had to wait further 45 minutes to be seated when tables where available. The waiter seating us was rude. It then took another half hour to get drinks and further 30 to get a children’s menu. All the food was great but service was so poor it ruined the visit.
Amazing food once again, excellent service and really attentive and very friendly staff :-)
The serving staff at the restaurant are lovely but very poorly trained and service standards get worse every time we visit - usually for brunch. Slow and disorganised operation. The hot drinks were luke-warm as was the food, and the presentation was totally unacceptable. The Manager did speak to us and discount the food once we had flagged our experience up. I never complain as I understand hiccups happen, but this is far too frequent an occurrence. Either considerably reduce prices or raise standards considerably.
We had an early valentines meal here, food was amazing :-) staff very friendly, over all we had a lovely night :-)
Great price, great location, great service. Cannot wait visit again with my family
We arrived at 12.50 for a 2 course lunch. The restaurant filled up. After much chivying and reminding we finally got our dessert after everyone else had left and we left at 3.30pm. We saw a different member of staff at every stage and not one person took ownership of our table (of 4). In fact until we started to make a fuss nothing happened! It was disappointing as we have been to Georges several times and had taken friends who had not been before. I don't think they will be returning.

Lovely breakfast and great service. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.
I have been going to George’s for many years and generally always enjoyed the food and service. Service yesterday however was dreadful, only two waitresses which could not cope with the work load. On top of that food was not good either, and regardless of the 25% off still overpriced! If this would have been my first visit to the restaurant it also would have been the last.
Lovely evening again. Great food and service. Highly recommend for a tasteful dinner

I have dined at Georges on a few occasions and been happy with the the service. On this occasion the food took over 2 hours to come, yet the restaurant was empty. My friend also found a hair in her meal and although the meal was removed from the bill, an acknowledgement or apology from the manager would have been appreciated.
Pleasant waiting staff. Mackeral portion a little small on the main course but overall good value for the lunchtime menu.
Lovely breakfast, great venue and I will visit again soon
The Food was excellent as usual great value for money
Great food and service - will certainly go again recommend to everyone
Good food and ervice although little disappointed by the starter
Very good meal and over all a pleasant night out.
Food was bland very disappointed 😏😏 won’t be returning 😡
The atmosphere of the restaurant was slightly awkward, my friend and I referred to it as a library like feeling. The presentation of the chicken liver parfait was horrendous, however it tasted lovely. My friend ordered the Fish of the Day and we couldn’t actually find the fish it was that tiny, and both dishes were overloaded with mash potato. We didn’t stay for dessert. The food itself was lovely, just a shame about the presentation and the tiny fish problem. Not sure if we will be returning any time soon.
Great food, great atmosphere and fantastic service. The option for giving a meal to someone less fortunate is a really great touch.
Waited an hour and fifteen mins from sitting down for our main course ! I had fish of the day it wouldn’t of fed a cat , very bland over cooked and tasteless! Waitress couldn’t give us any bread as she said only enough bread for the soup allocation, my daughter had fish n chips which was good but the waitress came bk after we’d asjed fir vinegar that it was all out on tables and couldn’t find any ! What ???? Eventually she got some ! Very disappointing Sunday meal
Food was lovely, service as usual was terrible. Restaurant staff seem young, inexperienced and the waitress who served us completely lacked any service skills. We had to ask for our food and drinks order to be taken and was told she’d come over when she’d finished what she was doing, en route another customer asked for their bill so she proceeded to cleared their table and requested the bill. 20+ minutes of being seated at the table she then took our drink order. When serving drinks they were banged down on the table, and all in all she was quite rude. Never made you feel welcome or valued as a customer. At the end of the meal we ended up going to the till to pay our bill as we couldn’t get our waitresses attention, which summed up the service overall. Food was good, bar ambience was nice, restaurant service and atmosphere dreadful.
Great food nice atmosphere fabulous service Coffee on the terrace was lovely
fabulous food and service. well priced menu, with good variety
The best Sunday roast in the North West ! !
