Excellent food - particularly if you stick to the steaks, burgers & grilled options. although three was a disappointing pasta dish. Lovely location on the river in Richmond with plenty of outside tables. Very friendly, efficient staff.

Friendly pleasant staff, moved my daughter and I to a table by the window with a good view of the river. Fairly busy but we weren't rushed neither did we have to wait. My main course salmon was nicely cooked and my starter of tuna carpaccio was excellent. Overall a pleasant experience.

Great family friendly restaurant in wonderful spot in Richmond. Excellent service, the staff couldn't be better. The menu is fairly standard stuff and could be more exciting, but as this is a chain, I guess they are more concerned about consistency than creativity!

Excellent food and service for a birthday team breakfast. We all loved the theatre of the filter coffee. Waffles, Huevos Rancheros and Full English. Thank you very much

Slightly disappointing breakfast - lots of fat on the slab bacon and REALLY strong coffee. The fried eggs and the potatoes were good though, likewise the buttermilk pancakes and streaky bacon. The avocado based breakfasts looked really tasty though, so I'd definitely try one of them if I return.

Great food, but as the meal got towards the end, the service waned. Took forever to pay our bill. But great view and people watching.

Excellent table with river view, prompt and polite service throughout the visit, good food and wine. Simply cannot fault the staff or the food or the service. Just one comment, which made it 5/6 rather than full marks ….. it was a bit stuffy, a bit too warm in the restaurant, though it was pretty full. Overall, a good visit.

After sitting for 40 mins we had to ask for menus and drinks. Staff were apologetic but unfortunately that was the theme of the evening even for the bill! Maybe it was our table as we seemed to be more on a corridor section. When we got our food it was delicious and good value for money.

Had a great evening. Sat outside which the staff made available very quickly. Food was delicious on slightly to salty on the mussels and prawn linguine, however that may just be to our taste. Everything was cooked very well

We were 10 minutes late for our booked table and it had been given away already and was put on a small dark table by the passage way. A bigger area was then opened up for other couples after we have been sat down. Napkin was dirty before having been used. Chips were cold and Aperol Spritz was watery. Will not return

It was a nice restaurant and food was nice, however our drinks and starters took ages to arrive and came all separately so enjoying our starters and wine wasn’t fun. The staff were friendly and it was a nice atmosphere

Very pleasant evening; food was good, service was good , nothing to complain about. Starter of chorizo prawns was new and excellent, chicken and avocado salad was, of anything, too big,,,

Our waitress took our order at 7.40 PM, and we didn't get our food until 9 PM. She never acknowledged that she had made the mistake of not putting our 'mains' order in promptly, and just left us sitting there, with no explanation. Apparently we're going to receive 4 vouchers for dinner, which we appreciate, but it was not a good experience and we were taking friends out who are moving back to America next week, and they had never been to J and R. Pretty unfortunate.

Lunch for a friend’s birthday was mixed. Sat outside on a hot day and had to ask for ice several times. Chicken and avocado salad had browned avocados in places. Although it was clearly a birthday celebration, when his dessert arrived the plate didn’t say ‘happy birthday ‘ or have a candle on it! Disappointing.

Outstanding service (Lazso) and brunch. Reserving a table in advance was a great idea as it was a busy time and we were given a quiet table with a gorgeous view. The coffee was superb.

Service was really bad. We asked for them to bring the starters and main together...they did not. Then we were left with dirty dishes and they seemed to have forgotten about us. In the end we all had to rush to get back to work. I won't bother coming back in future.

A good spot by the river with lots of outdoor seating. Food is consistently good and service generally good overall. One fly in the ointment is the insistence of J&R, along with other restaurants, to add a service charge to the bill. If I am happy with my waiter, I will tip directly and accordingly. I prefer not to supplement staff costs beyond what I have paid for my meal. An insidious little practice that is now common in the UK restaurant trade.

Excellent, food, and service was faultless. We arrived with a large party which included several children and staff really couldn't have been more helpful to us. There was a slight wait for th food, but it was totally worth it.

Lovely food and friendly service, albeit slightly slow due to a busy Sunday service. Steaks were cooked exactly as required, the fries were crisp and hot and the drinks well-mixed.

We love food (especially brunch menu) and decor here, and it really does have the best outdoor space in Richmond but the service is usually a bit on the slow side

We hadn't been to the restaurant for quite some time. The floor area was really dirty as were the seats. The staff were happy to clean up when we asked but this put a downer on our visit. The Champagne was served chilled and nicely presented. The menu had changed quite a bit and we found less to order than on previous visits. The food took ages to arrive. Overall we felt the restaurant is tired and lacking atmosphere. Now Richmond has the new Ivy Restaurant and Antipodea, the older restaurants ( Bills, Cote, Jackson & Rye, Carluccio's) all need to revamp. Money must be invested. Overall we were disappointed. It was all tired and scruffy.
