Langar Hall

We were really looking forward to lunch, which was given to me as a birthday present (voucher), as we’ve been a couple of times before and had a great time. However upon arrival we were seated in the study and apparently forgotten about. Staff passed us several times, we were not asked what we would like to drink, after 15 minutes we had to ask if we could order a drink, 5 minutes later the waitress came back and asked what we’d like, but we hadn’t even seen the bar/wine menu. She got those and the lunch menu and we duly ordered the drinks, she said another waitress would be with us shortly to order food. Another 15 minutes and we had to ask if we could order our lunch. This was 45 minutes arrival and over 30 minutes past our table time. We were told she’d be with us in a minute, it was very busy. This is not really a good enough excuse, they know how many people are booked in for lunch. It was busy but, we saw staff walking around checking on other tables and tidying up. We assume, they have a system as to who takes food orders etc..which might work for the convenience of the restaurant but not for the customer. To be fair once seated the service improved greatly and the food was fine, but just little things could improve the experience like asking if you’d like more bread, asking if more drinks are needed, asking if you’d like butter with the cheese and biscuits etc. It’s not a cheap lunch and service charge is automatically added to your bill, I know you can reduce it by speaking to reception, but again that puts the responsibility on the customer to make a complaint, rather than the restaurant staff to do a good job. It makes it especially difficult when waiting staff are hanging around reception when you are paying. Not sure we’ll be tempted to go again.

Langar is the perfect place to meet old friends who live 100 miles from me. We return time after time because it is a delight. This time no exception. One couple were unexpectedly absent due to illness, we later learned. The staff could not have been more accommodating, Sitting outside, with a gin and tonic, when I arrived very early, was the perfect start to a happy reunion!

The presentation of the courses was imaginative and the flavour combinations were exceptionally good.

Always a lovely meal at Langar Hall. Extremely high quality for the price. As always service was as you would want it. Friendly and efficient. Such a beautiful place and it was nice to be able to have drinks outside this summer.

Always a treat to dine at Langar Hall, very welcoming and accommodating staff making you feel comfortable in the beautiful hall and gardens! We were celebrating a birthday and as usual the food was full of taste explosion surprises which fulfilled expectations. Thankyou Langar for helping us celebrate.

The weather was beautiful so we were able to sit outside to have a drink first. The staff were attentive without being pushy. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and very tasty. The bread was fresh, warm and delicious. After lunch we had coffee in the garden, a really lovely setting, chocolate truffles delicious.

Great service, and food, as always. Monday’s are always a little quieter, which has its advantages and disadvantages, but we all really enjoyed it

We had a lovely time, thanks to all the very attentive staff. The garden room was a great place to eat.

Great lunch today celebrating a family birthday. Excellent reception service and food. We particularly appreciated the dining in the study where it was quiet and peaceful for a hard of hearing nonagenarian! Great get together and celebration. Many thanks to all staff.

Fantastic environment with beautiful food. It was all very well thought out.

Langar Hall is a shabby chic restaurant & hotel set in fabulous grounds & countryside. It is a very relaxed environment. Some staff aren’t overly friendly but others were, the food was delicious, we stopped for lunch and were impressed with the menu. You eat in a conservatory for lunch which was delightful, think cottage garden ambience!

We were booked in at 12.45 and arrived 5 minutes late. We were not seated until 13.30, which meant that by 14.35 we had not had desert, but had to leave at 15.00 to pick up school children, which made it all a bit rushed. The meal was lovely and the building beautiful. I would not let it put me off going again, but would book for an earlier time.

A splendid evening in a delightful setting. We love this place. It’s like going to have dinner with friends.

Disappointed because nibbles are not now served with pre drinks and cocktails not now served decorated with fruit etc. Langar Hall is losing its unique touch.

Quite simply the best restaurant experience we have had. Have eaten all around the world, but never sampled such amazing food anywhere. The surroundings are a delight, the service brilliant and given the quality, the prices are very reasonable.
