Battlefield Rest

When we arrived the owner took our coats and showed us to our table, it has a feel good ambience, full of conversations and laughter.The staff were great, very attentive and the owner was very available as he was also waiting tables. The food was unexpectedly excellent, (a small Italian restuarant in the suburbs I was resigned to mediocre, how wrong I was), my entire party remarked on the freshness and flavour. Couple this with the enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff and you have the recipe for a wonderfully relaxing and satisfying evening. It will not be the last time we visit, it has a big thumbs up from me.

Excellent food at a reasonable price from a very extensive menu. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere made for a pleasant lunch. Would recommend without hesitation.

The food was excellent and the service good . The only downside is that the tables are crammed close together with virtually no space between them. It’s a shame because it detracts from an otherwise great restaurant.

Great service, fantastic staff and excellent food. I would highly recommend and have never had a bad meal. I could go back and have the same choices tine and time again its that good.

Cosy atmosphere, great service, food delicious. We had the special Christmas menu and were amazed and delighted with the different options available. 3 courses for £16!!! Definitely going back for seconds!!!

Very nice pre Christmas lunch with a friend this afternoon. Haggis polpette starter followed by Turkey. Both delicious. Fast and efficient service. Free parking across the road. Perfect start to the festivities.

The food was delicious and all the staff are very nice. A big choice menu to choose from. Will definitely recommend and will return very soon.

Great Italian Restaurant! I had the Christmas menu at lunchtime. Great value and superb food. It is a gem and worth trying. Service was efficient and very friendly.

Amazing food and great service. My only complaint was table we were given is normally for 2 people. It was a bit of a squeeze for 4 people!

We had previously visited the Battlefield Rest to celebrate our daughter’s graduation. Our return visit didn’t disappoint. Lovely food, cosy restaurant, prompt service and surprisingly easy parking!

Great pre theatre night out, service, food atmosphere all excellent. Cosy but busy place, even on a Monday. I will definitely be back. Love it 😎

Everything we had was to their usual high standard. A regular favourite of ours. New dishes always appearing on the menu and always perfectly cooked.

An attractive, colourful restaurant almost as colourful as the serving staff, who were a delight and who seemed happy to exchange banter with the customers. The food is Italian and flavourful, though I think the Torte needs a rethink!

Great food bad service normally good service as we have been a few times but as it was a birthday treat for our son we were looking forward to it but we were places in a corner table for 5 people when there was 6 of us, and reminding staff a lot for drinks and even menus at the start waiting for 20 minutes with no service

Small, cosy, busy restaurant. Great food and service. Particularly, the Lamb tagine. Several tender, tasty pieces throughout the fish. Impressed. Make sure to book so you don’t miss out.
